Conservatives Get Snubbed On Committees
conservativereview.com ^ | 12/1/14 | Gaston Mooney

Squeezing out conservatives on committee assignments is a tried and true strategy of the establishment. Boehner has threatened and successfully kicked conservative “troublemakers” off of committees for standing up for their principles. In the Senate McConnell even had to recruit Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) for the Senate Finance Committee to jam then Senator DeMint. Even recently, conservative Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was pushed out of the chair at House Oversight because he wanted to aggressively go after the Obama administration.

"Given the fact that Senator Sessions has done a superb job serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, why bench your all-star for a walk on?"

It is happening again. Conservative Review was the first conservative media outlet to detail how Senator Enzi was challenging Senator Sessions for the Budget gavel and then laid out how McConnell has the ability to stop or sway the contest.

Seniority plays a large role in Senators’ committee assignments and is traditionally used by the establishment as the reason for withholding key positions from conservatives. However, in the case with Senator Sessions (R-AL) he is the more senior (and more conservative) member.

Senators Enzi and Sessions were both elected in 1997, but because Alabama is a bigger state than Wyoming, Sessions is a notch above Enzi on the seniority ladder. However, for committee assignment purposes tiebreakers on seniority are done by lottery, literally luck of the draw.

Given the fact that Senator Sessions has done a superb job serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, why bench your all-star for a walk on?

"What was Senator Enzi doing on the infamous night of executive amnesty? He was on the Senate floor calling on Congress to pass one of the latest Big Government schemes: an Internet sales tax.”

The elites don’t want real conservatives as committee chairs. Sooner or later, FReepers will wake up to the truth that we only have one political party with two wings which the elites use to play Americans off each other. If we were to realize this, there wouldn’t be the attention-diverting Right/Left paradigm. Instead, it would be Us (The American People) vs. Them (The elites).

Agree. They’re all talk and no results. I’m sick and tired of their insincere jawboning and empty promises.

No more votes for the GOP without seeing tangible evidence of progress toward conservative goals. Is that too much for us to ask?

What the last election "tidal wave" should have told the GOPe is that the citizenry will no longer just accept "same ole/ same ole" bowl of crap

Consider how the republicans wasted just about the entire 8 years of the G. W. Bush presidency.

They didn't do much and most of what they did do made things worse.

Didn't they ever consider what a bad president could do with the power vested in the Patriot Act?

Didn't they ever consider what democrats could do with the immigration issue when they failed to seal the borders and strengthen the E-Verify system and make it mandatory?

Everyone knew democrats wanted to pass a version of Hillary Care if they ever won the presidency again but republicans did nothing to remedy the healthcare problems that gave democrats open issues.

So many of the issues that have been nightmares for us in the Obama era could (and should) have been dealt with and removed as issues before anyone ever heard of Obama.

In fact, if republicans had taken care of business back then it is entirely possible that Obama, or any other democrat, would have ever been elected in 2008.

But we have to elect the Republicans or else the communist agenda will advance with no opposition!

Less than one month ago the country gave the Republicans resounding victories at the poles not seen in more than 80 years. And the victories were at all levels, state legislatures, governorships, House of Representatives and the Senate. It was a stunning rebuke of the policies of Democrats generally and Obama specifically.

And the Republic Establishment response?: "Never mind" (picture Gilda Radner as Roseanna Roseanndanna).

Now that Obama has declared himself Emperor, and now Mitch McConnell and John Boehner have declared themselves acolytes of Emperor Obama by declaring they will support him by voting to fund Obama’s dictatorial Executive Amnesty Order, Congress no longer matters.

It’s as foolish to worry about Congressional committee assignments as it would have been to worry about seating arrangements at the Captain’s table on the Titanic after the ship had hit the iceberg.

In dictatorships, there are only two ‘’parties’’ — those who support the dictator and those who fight against him.

For example, in Communist Russia there were Stalinists and anti-Stalinists; in China, Maoists and anti-Maoists; and now in Communist America there are Obamunists and anti-Obamunists — and every newspaper, every member of Congress, every Internet site that continues to proceed as if it’s still business as usual, as if we still have a democracy and a functioning legislature when we don’t, is only supporting the Obamunists in their further efforts to seize every last bit of power they haven’t already taken.

Do the tens of millions of anti-Obamunists in America who voted for Republicans last month in order to weaken Obama’s powers but have now been stabbed in the back by Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and many other Republicans they elected who have now decided to SUPPORT Obama — do they have a single anti-Obamunist representative in Congress who will at least stand up for them, who will speak out, and who will refuse to take his seat in the new phony rubber-stamp Obamunist legislature-in-name-only?

Ted Cruz? Mike Lee? The age of RINOs, Conservatives, and Democrats is over in Washington. Every elected representative and senator who sits down in the new ‘’Congress’’ will be a LINO — a legislator in name only. Will anyone have the courage to separate themselves from this charade and try to lead an effort to restore freedom in America? It will be interesting, but probably very painful, to watch.

Conservative organizations should start running attack ads against committee heads from the Republican left. Do it until McConnell relents. The Republican left plays dirty, and they play for keeps, while conservatives whine about it. Hit them back, and keep doing it.

so let me understand your logic: more conservatives would have been on committees if the Democrats had won?

Nice try. I mean, I get your point, but that’s a total non sequitur.

Dear Republicans in Congress:

The vast majority of Republicans DO NOT want Boehner and McConnell as our ‘leaders’.

You already disappointed us by re-electing these wimps again to leadership posts. Shame on you!

This year, we were so desperate to win, that we held our noses and voted for some of you.

Next time, you won’t be so lucky. You WILL be primaried.

If you put your country’s best interests ahead of your own political interests, both will be better served.

You better start doing what we elected you to do. Buck the establishment - IT’S NOT WORKING!!!

Iron Munro:" Consider how the republicans wasted just about the entire 8 years of the G. W. Bush presidency."

I wholeheartedly agree !! That is why we can expect the same old bowl of crap with the same complacent leadership that existed then, and still exists now.
That's why I would like to see "RECALL" for all FED/State offices.
The "tidal wave" of the last election included Democrats and GOP who don't like where the country is headed.
And if the GOPe doesn't recognized that, they need to be relegated to the political trash heap.
Given restrictions that has been imposed on the GOP, regarding court ordered consequence to alledged 'voter supression' several years ago ,
and as a consequence they cannot challenge 'voter fraud', the leadership agreed to their own decline and irrelevence.
Is it too soon, or too late to call for a third party ?

That was my argument prior to the election, when all the "Gotta vote Republican, because Republican is better than Democrats!" Robots were on the scene. R's held the House, Senate AND WHITE HOUSE from 2000-2006, and look what they did with it: We got the so called "Patriot" Act, Part D and the beginning of a legacy of bailouts and too big to fail policy. And here we thought they were actually going to do something big with those 6 years! HA! And the next couple of years will be no different. If we couldn't make serious policy gains by holding all 3 houses for 6 years, you gotta be stupid to think suddenly something is going to change.

No, there wouldn't be more COnservatives. But we would have expected that beforehand, instead of being stabbed int he back by the GOP...again. At this point, only a fool would vote Republican.

The citizens of Wyoming had the opportunity to elect Liz Cheney who has a whole heck of a lot more spine (like her Dad) than Enzi, and they chose otherwise. Fools.

Maybe the eGOP knows this past election was a vote against Obama and his fellow liberals and not a vote for the GOP.

Excellent idea indeed! Let’s do it NOW and get it over with before the 2016 election race starts heating up.

Let’s make sure 2014 is the LAST time that we all hold our noses and vote for something we don’t believe in.

but we knew that too.....at least, I knew that was possibility. But let’s see what happens when the new Congress convenes and we’ve seen the reaction to this kind of crap. Things that suck don’t always suck forever and ever.

You are certainly familiar with the concept of quantity being its own quality? A quantity below a certain minimum will cause failure just as badly and just as resolutely as a zero-quantity.

It is insanity to support those who hate us. I do not care if they call themselves Democrats or Republicans.
