LONDON — The sophisticated, military-style strike Wednesday on a French newspaper known for satirizing Islam is sure to accelerate the growth of anti-Islamic sentiment in Europe, feeding far-right nationalist parties like France’s National Front.
“This is a dangerous moment for European societies,” said Peter Neumann, director of the International Center for the Study of Radicalization at King’s College London. “With increasing radicalization among supporters of jihadist organizations and the white working class increasingly feeling disenfranchised and uncoupled from elites, things are coming to a head.”...
Mr. Cantat spoke for many when he said the attacks could fuel greater anti-immigrant sentiment. “We are told Islam is for God, for peace,” he said. “But when you see this other Islam, with the jihadists, I don’t see peace, I see hatred. So people can’t tell which is the real Islam.”
The attack left some Muslims fearing a backlash. “Some people when they think terrorism, think Muslims,” said Arnaud N’Goma, 26, as he took a cigarette break outside the bank where he works....
Samir Elatrassi, 27, concurred, saying that “Islamophobia is going to increase more and more. When some people see these kinds of terrorists, they conflate them with other Muslims. And it’s the extreme right that’s going to benefit from this.”...
Right-wing, anti-immigrant political parties that see Islam as a threat to national values have expanded from the margins in many countries of Western Europe in recent years...

Someone murders a newspaper editor while screaming Allahu Akbar and the take away for the NYT is that we have to worry about white working class disenfranchisement because they will turn into ignorant racist yahoos. This is Stockholm Syndrome on steroids.
The French will stand up and wage this war with Islam as successfully as they did with the Nazi’s.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.
The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.
The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.
Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”
The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose.”
Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .
The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.
Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be alright, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is cancelled.” So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.
A final thought - “ Greece is collapsing, the Iranians are getting aggressive, and Rome is in disarray. Welcome back to 430 BC”.
IOW, those darned Islamic terrorists keep pushing reality into the picture and ruining the false narrative. It's profoundly sad that so many people in the Western world actually weigh the lying words of the media and politicians as much as they do the evidence before their own eyes. The power of propaganda is truly a horrific thing.

I literally stopped reading right there. I'm in the military. Don't insult us. I watched the videos. These guys were idiots. They had zero tactics. They chose a place where no one would have a gun. It was fish in a barrel. Just because they got out of that type of situation does not make them Delta Force.
One would think. But it isn't exclusively Muslims.
Yesterday the no-punches-pulled Daily Mail ran an article: "Mexican cannibal cartel forced new recruits to EAT THE HEARTS of people they murdered in shocking ritual to root out infiltrators."
The "motives" may be different, but barbarism is alive and well all over the planet. And yes, I do think political parties everywhere need to make a very sharp turn to the right just to bring the situation back toward the middle.
