Still bleeding the public: Vito Lopez has cost taxpayers $100,000 for his allegedly gross behavior so far, and the bill is about to grow by $545,000, according to lawyers for the women the Assembly says he groped and tried to kiss.
The state is shelling out $545,000 in taxpayer money to settle the sexual harassment lawsuit brought by two one-time aides of former assemblyman and Brooklyn Democratic boss Vito Lopez, according to the plaintiffs lawyer.
The settlement ends the court proceedings against Lopez, who an Assembly panel said groped, tried to kiss, and made lecherous comments to the two women, Victoria Burhans and Chloe Rivera. Lopez is on the hook for a mere $35,000 towards the settlement.
We are pleased to have reached a resolution, they wrote. We hope our ordeal will serve as a strong reminder to New Yorks legislators that they are accountable for their behavior. All women should be treated with respect and dignity, not as sex objects or as problems to be handled and silenced.
In December, before the settlement, Lopez claimed to be too sick to attend a court deposition, but a New York Post report revealed he had attended the wedding of the granddaughter of a prominent Hasidic rabbi a month prior.

$545,000 in taxpayer money....
He should have to pay it out of his own pocketbook, not ours.
Millions of Americans would line up to be groped for $500,000. Illegal immigrants will do it for $5,000.
NYC is Sodom on crack.. groping are just caresses..
The City has been sodomized for so long.. a little hand jive is small potatoes..
Actually it is much worse I was just being nice.. with my comments..
Worse on many levels..
No mention of party in title, subtitle, first sentence, or first paragraph...therefore its a democrat.
Ooops, missed it.
Because this is NYC, and the bureaucrats and officials in the government of NYC are virtually untouchable. Call it corruption or call it extreme liberalism where the government is the master and the rest of the population peasants. Whatever it is it shows the widenin gap between what government thinks and acts like it is and what it ought to be.
To think that we can get groped for free at any participating airport in the US.
It would be a nice change! Millions of Americans have been lining up and paying money to be groped for years now!
