In Chicago, the thugs organize via Facebook. They travel by bus or elevated trains to the targeted store/s. . They also drive stolen autos to the front of the store, so the loot can quickly be thrown into the auto/s and off they go. They also will walk away from the area and mingle with the crowd on the streets, so as to not be easy to identify from film footage. They're out for the booty they can steal from stores, and then re-sell to folks in the neighborhood.

No wonder we have “food deserts”; in my area (on the border of the Newark NJ hive) our pizzerias won’t deliver there, and taxis and tow trucks don’t go there either. They used to; now they know better...
