Jeb Bush aides used private domain for public business

Republicans who are lambasting Hillary Clinton's use of a personal email address on a private server have found themselves on a minefield, each facing questions about their own transparency.

The closest parallel among Clinton's likely 2016 challengers: Jeb Bush.

The former Florida governor was quick to criticize Clinton this week amid reports that she'd never used a government email during her four years as secretary of state.

Like Clinton, though, Bush had set up his own home server with a private address during his time in office. He still uses it, giving it out at events and asking supporters to email him comments and concerns. And, like Clinton, several of his top aides had email addresses connected Bush's server, too.

Yep. Torpedo them both.

Yes. Two thumbs up on that.

I agree. It was remarkable to see how many Freepers immediately took the bait, out of their hatred for Bush, and completely forgot about Hillary.

Aside from the fact that there were some significant differences between Bush and Hillary in the use of the email accounts, not to mention their respective jobs, and the fact that Bush appears to have used his official email for official matters (unlike Hillary, who NEVER once used her official email), Bush released 250,000 of them when requested. Hillary denied that they even existed.

Further in the article, CNN attacks Walker and in fact just about every GOPer for “doing the same thing as Hillary,” which they did not do. Her email use was clearly an intent to deceive and conceal and make her tracks untraceable, whereas the others occasionally sent something about their campaign strategy or other totally non-sensitive items from an un-secure private email address (often housed on their servers, though, which would have given it some protection).

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) will honor former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with this year’s Liberty Medal from the National Constitution Center.

There is a huge difference between a private 'server' and a private 'domain'. A 'server' consists of physical hardware with its own processor, disk drives and operating system. A 'domain' is simply software operating on someone else's hardware. A privately owned 'domain' likely is housed on a 'server' that has its own administration and backup procedures unrelated to the owner of the 'domain'. Hillary's 'server' was located in her house, and she alone completely controlled the administration and backup procedures.

I find it logical that the writer of the NBC article didn't even know the difference. The only reference I could find to Bush actually owning a 'server' was an NBC report stating: "The server was housed in a state-owned office building." It doesn't seem likely to me that Jeb Bush would own and totally control a 'server' located on state government property. It seems probable to me that he simply had a 'domain' there and that NBC wasn't accurate. If anyone can find a reference to an actual physical server owned by Bush, please reply.

It would be nice to zot jeb, but having a private email system for personal use is different than what Hillary was doing with “official” business.

Hillary is a crooked scoundrel.

Interesting how this Republican hit piece refers to Jeb's 250,000 emails to Hillary's 55,000 pages of emails. I think the 55,000 pages are the only ones that the Hillary camp has decided to release to the State Department for review. How many thousands more have not and will not be released?

I agree. This is the way the Hillary people have ALWAYS operated. They get under a cloud of scandal, then they find a GOP target to blame and EVERYONE believes them... even the conservatives.

There is not a scandal here for Bush. KEEP THE SPOTLIGHT ON HER FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE FOR ONCE AND GET RID OF THE WITCH. DO NOT BUY THIS ALINSKY TACTIC ANYMORE!!! FOCUS YOUR FIRE AND DO NOT WATER IT DOWN.

And Jeb Bush was not a the Secretary of State. CNN is grasping at straws (as usual).

That said, Bush is bad news.
