I’m not that sure that that poll is accurate about American attitudes toward immigration. The Republicans who campaigned against present immigration policies won.

Many Catholics and “mainline” Protestants LONG AGO fired Jesus Christ and hired Karl Marx. As C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) once observed of a church that no longer loves the Gospel (paraphrased). “An empty perfume bottle maintains the fragrance for a while, but eventually it fades.” As they seek approval from the world, I think there’s not much “fragrance” left in many church pews today.

"The Republicans who campaigned against present immigration policies won."

We don't have an immigration policy, we have an open border and a public relations policy to to shield Congress from the consequences of not protecting and defending our borders.

Meanwhile, we still have hundreds of bases and tens of thousands of our troops overseas which means protecting overseas investments is what puts the butter on a Congress critters bread..
