I still believe the Congressional election of 2006 was profoundly important and yet remains an almost hidden feature of political history.
The democrats gained strong control of Congress and THIS event more than anything else— precipitated the mortgage crisis and economic collapse.
It is also helped give legitimacy to the antiwar/progenocide crowd that would elect Obama and give Iraq back to ISIS.
President Bush warned the crowing Pelosi and Reid about this in the state of the Union of 2007 where he said an Iraq withdrawal would lead to exactly what has happened since Obama took over.
The refusal to document and defend these domestic and international fenceposts is why we cannot return to prosperity and respect.
It was never Bush’s fault and sadly many conservatives and all democrats still agree that it was.
The intellectual culture that controls our memory is most to blame.
I am not surprised that the Donald did this. The man is dangerously fickle.
Rush was right today. he is the new Perot.

“Would YOU, under any circumstances, give ANY money to ANY Democrat since you know, as does Trump, that the the Democrats:
1. wholeheartedly support Abortion
2. wholeheartedly support the Gay Agenda
3. wholeheartedly want to take away your 2nd Amendment Rights
4. Wholeheartedly want to give Illegals Amnesty so they can destroy any chance that Conservatives can be President.”
Yes. Because it is part of doing business and a trump has been doing business in NY, NJ for over 75 years when you include his fathers businesses.
My turn,
Ted Cruz visited with two gay hoteliers in NYC a few weeks back to discuss whatever. The two of them supported gay marriage. Should Cruz drop out of the race? It’s very possible they support him for President which would mean Ted Cruz approves of gay marriage providing of course he didn’t return any campaign donations.

I agree. Let's see the whole mix of ideas and promises from all of the politicians, and have fun! Regarding some of the dialogue seen here over the past ten years or so, traditionally, real, common Americans didn't call each other names and try to shut each other up over politicians.
Political class folks these days speak more like followers of Benito Mussolini. Too much recent European influence without adequate assimilation. We need new, old fashioned leadership in every level of business, academia and politics. The default process might help with that.

"Trump...love of money"
He loves that, but he loves himself far more. Obviously, most prez candidates are not shy of ego. But Trump goes way over the top. He's more a demagogue than a serious candidate. He'll throw red meat to the mob, but has no serious solutions to anything.
To: Mariner
Bingo. Trump is no conservative, but on an issue such as immigration he is significantly more bold than Cruz, Walker, and the rest of the field. If anything, Trump will force these guys to think more in terms of national interest instead of pleasing their internationalist, big money donors.

So Trump donates money IN SUPPORT of many Democrats and you are trying to equate that with Ted Cruz meeting with two people, who happen to be gay and then twist that into he supports Gay Marriage?
One is an overt action indictive of supporting the policies of those you donate to. The other is listening to a couple of citizens of the United States and trying to get them to support Ted Cruz because of their shared values where Israel is concerned.
I see I am debating with a logic-impaired and morally-impaired person.
Thanks, but there are people on FreeRepublic who have not already sold their soul with whom I can hold an honest conversation with.

Yep. All politicians are liars. That was common knowledge in our real America, a couple of generations back.
Cruz Mega-Donor is Gay, Pro-Pot Billionairehttp://www.texastribune.org/2012/07/03/ted-cruzs-gay-billionaire-donor-draws-criticism/
And we didn't rant, rave, call names or try to shut each other up. Humorous innuendo was as about as far as it went.
And look at our corporate offices in so many companies--all politically correct and firing anyone who is old fashioned and decent. Those are the sponsors of the media and most influential constituents in politics.
The following companies support the homosexual movement by funding their political terrorism:http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3274821/posts
The following are also too much in control of both political parties. Walker is the only politician with any real record of trying to do anything about them (by cutting their spending). Maybe Trump would, too. I don't know.
Heavy Hitters: Top All-Time Donors, 1989-2014http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list.phpAmerican Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees $60,949,129 [Democrat] 81% [Republican] 1%

...nearly 40 million Americans employed in some way by government."
But that's it. None of the other politicians show any real, consistent motivation to cut their money (and therefore time) for being so influential in politics.

"but his purpose is not to have the debate but to ensure that a conservative does not win the nomination"
I can't agree with that.
I think he thinks he's going to win.
And, I don't think he has the same constituency as Ted Cruz.
Trump is a populist. And a Nationalist with appeal to Reagan Democrats.
He's going to be a force in this election whether he wins anything or not.
This shifts the debate substantially on some critical issues many other candidates are unable to address because their contributors don't see the world the same way as the average American.
Trump is going to tap that vein.

He just buys the party in power. He needs their favor.
And, if you need the favor of Congress you have to pay for it.
I'd MUCH rather vote for the payer than the despicable payee.
One, two, three, four rationalizations.
Here are the hopefuls, by party, some have declared, there may be some I've forgotten to list, I've boldfaced my two (and only two) favorites and put strikes through the unacceptable candidates (that could grow):
Pubbies (twelve declared, perhaps two more to go):
- Ben Carson [declared]
- Bobby Jindal (gov of LA)
- Carly Fiorina [declared]
Chris Christie (gov of NJ) Donald Trump [declared] - George Pataki
Jeb Bush- John Kasich (gov of OH)
Lindsey Graham [declared] - Marco Rubio [declared]
Mike Huckabee [declared] Peter KingRick Perry [declared] Rick Santorum- Sarah Palin
- Scott Walker
- Ted Cruz [declared]
other possible candidates:
- Brian Sandoval
- Jim Gilmore
- Kelly Ayotte
- Mike Pence
- Mitch Daniels
- Nikki Haley (gov of SC)
- Susana Martinez (gov of NM)
|
Here are some combos that make sense to me at this time:
- Ted Cruz, with running mate Donald Trump
- Ted Cruz, with running mate Carly Fiorina
- Ted Cruz, with running mate John Kasich
- Ted Cruz, with running mate Peter King
- Ted Cruz, with running mate Ben Carson
- Ted Cruz, with running mate Mike Huckabee
- Scott Walker, with running mate Susana Martinez
- Scott Walker, with running mate Marco Rubio
- Scott Walker, with running mate Brian Sandoval
- Scott Walker, with running mate Ben Carson
- Scott Walker, with running mate Nikki Haley
- Scott Walker, with running mate Carly Fiorina
- Scott Walker, with running mate Kelly Ayotte
- Scott Walker, with running mate Peter King

Demwits (4 declared, rest possible or probable):
Bernie Sanders (I-VT) [declared] Bill A.K.A. DeBlasioElizabeth WarrenHillary Clinton [declared] Lincoln Chafee [declared] Martin O'MalleyRand Paul [declared] other possible candidates:

Yes, just look at what Boner & Co. iare trying to do with TPP. Their “masters” down at the US Chamber of Communists don’t care what this latest trade giveaway does to our citizens so long as their moneyed members can cut another fat hog deal for themselves.
