Poll: Trump surges to big lead in GOP presidential race

Businessman Donald Trump surged into the lead for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, with almost twice the support of his closest rival, just as he ignited a new controversy after making disparaging remarks about Sen. John McCain’s Vietnam War service, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Support for Trump fell sharply on the one night that voters were surveyed following those comments. Telephone interviewing for the poll began Thursday, and most calls were completed before the news about the remarks was widely reported.

Although the sample size for the final day was small, the decline was statistically significant. Still, it is difficult to predict what could happen to Trump’s support in the coming days and weeks as the controversy plays out.

The next seven, ranging in support from 8 percent to 3 percent, are: former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.), former Texas governor Rick Perry and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

ROTFLMAO......all of them should drop out now and let’s deal with the top 3.

Personally, I think O’Reilly is a very good interviewer. If he goes all Brit Hume on Trump tonight, then figure that Murdoch has laid down the law.

I remember O’Reilly defending Trump on illegal criminals last week, so if O’Reilly isn’t his normal professional self, then we’ll know.

That doesn’t mean tough questions won’t be asked, but there should be no gotchas in there.

Yes, Yes.

Especially when being “politically correctly” means being dishonest, or obtuse, or avoiding addressing a problem.

There’s no need to offend diverse groups unnecessarily. But there are times when the truth is going to offend someone.

IMHO, The real questions are:

1.) can he win a general election?

2.)does he adequately represent conservative political views?

“Do we want a man who addresses ALL things like the common man?”

You mean, like Obama, Clinton, etc.?

“He tells it like it is especially about illegals”.

And about phony “war heroes”. Too bad he didn’t stick to his guns and say McCain is no hero and he was coming out with documentation to prove it! I would give donate $100 to his campaign if he were to expose the real Manchurian candidate Songbird McAmesty.

If Trump drops out, someone is going to pick up his 24%.

And since Trumps high poll numbers were built on his anti-illegal immigration stance, I think we can rule out Yeb, Rubio, Huckster
and a few more since they are all amnesty pimps.

I’m beginning to wonder if this is going to be another one of those years in which no one is running who represents me and my interests.

The first votes are six months out. Right now I am enjoying a tactical success by Trump every day. He moved the political football toward my goal post with nothing but a few politically incorrect phrases.

The media cannot deal with this guy. He leaves them flopping on the floor by not playing gotcha games. Trump is blazing the trail to the White House.

Until the voting starts enjoy the show. A lot can change in a year.

Trump doesn’t need softballs. I wonder if he will ask him what his favorite ice cream flavor is like they did with Hillary?
