I am not an seismic expert at all. I am an civil engineer. However, I wonder.....

..the Pacific plate encircles the entire Pacific Ocean. In the past 5 years or so, major earthquates have occurred in Peru, New Zealand and Japan. The area that has been relatively ‘quiet’ is the west coast of North America. Have the other major quakes placed added pressure on the west coast and is waiting to “release”? From my limited experience point of view, it is very plausible that California is due for something large.

Overdue. The San Adreas and other faults have been building up stress for decades and have to release eventually. When “eventually” occurs is the kicker.
