Now is the time to act to stop the ‘Clean Water Rule’
Ag Alert ^ | August 12, 2015 | Josh Rolph

In June, I wrote on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's newly finalized "waters of the United States," or WOTUS, rule. It will greatly enlarge the federal government's jurisdiction by expanding the definition of a "navigable water."

Come Aug. 28, when the rule takes effect, farmers on jurisdictional land will likely have three choices:

Abandon agricultural practices on their own private property; Attempt to obtain applicable permits, which will be expensive and time consuming; Proceed with operations, which could result in up to a $37,500-a-day fine for each violation.

Can I ask a stupid question?

If the next president is a Republican, can he simply rescind these EPA rules which are being implemented for clean air, clean water, etc.??? The EPA rule which is going to result in shutting down power plants seems especially extreme. But in that it’s an EPA rule, a bureaucratic regulation, not a law passed by Congress, I wondered if the next president can simply get rid of it??

Of course a President Democrat and the EPA will simply push us farther down that road if a Democrat succeeds Obama.

Yes and so can congress. But will they?

This is illustrative of how the USA is not the nation it was just 25 years ago. Unelected judges with lifetime appointments and faceless beaurocrats, both of whom are 100% unaccountable to the people, create laws that destroy our property rights, our industry, and our freedoms and we can do nothing about it.

Is this the same EPA that polluted the river in Colorado with mine waste?

How can these “do what we say or we will crush you” fines, created by an unelected bunch of zealot tyrants, not be a violation of the eighth amendment?

Because the Constitution is a "living document," subject to the whims of interpretation by the government.

At this point I don’t know what good it will do, but this was the last straw, and I have just signed up here in PA as a full member of the Farm Bureau.

I bought farm property last year here and right now I am only taking hay off the tillable, but I will be damned if some scumbag from the EPA is going to waltz in here and tell me I can not pasture animals along the creek, or mow and clean ditches, or fill in low spots that breed disease carrying mosquitoes.

No. No Effing Way.

This war is about to go hot. I don’t care if it’s just me fighting it... but the tree of liberty is about to be nourished.
