IIRC, Obama stated in one of his books (sorry, can’t remember which one) that he couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t gaining any political traction in Chicago’s black community.
Then a couple of church ladies pulled him aside and told him that the repository of power in the black community is the church; if he wanted to make contacts and get people to trust and listen to him, he needed to start going to church. He chose Wright’s Trinity church because it was huge and politically active.
It’s right there in his book, in his own words.
I think it is a snicker that the Press et al are so indignant that people might think someone is a Moslem. It must be a really disgusting religion to get that kind of reactions from people. They must shudder at the thought that someone might be a Moslem and think it to be atrocious for them to deem the imputation to be so heinous an insult.
