For the same reason we let islamists run around loose.
And in their ends, communists, being atheists, would be herded into the stadiums by the islamists too.
Too many "fellow travelers" in positions of influence and power. They've been working on this for over 100 years.
Why not outlaw and prosecute CPUSA?
They have freedom of speech until they act out, and we are stupid. Same for Islam.
