CRUZ: We Need to Address the Cause of the Migrant Crisis

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, speaking Monday morning in Michigan, said it would be "absolutely crazy" to bring Syrian refugees to the United States, despite a humanitarian crisis that has captured the attention of the world.
The U.S. Senator from Texas spoke to a crowd of roughly 800 pre-registered guests at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, criticizing President Barack Obama for plans to allow more Syrian refugees into the country.
"What President Obama is proposing to do, bring tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims to America, is nothing short of crazy," Cruz told the crowd during a question and answer center.
Cruz referenced recent comments from Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who reportedly said the crisis provides an opportunity for ISIS to attack Western targets. He did not mention that Clapper also said the U.S. has an aggressive program for vetting refugees that Europe may not.
"It would be the height of foolishness to bring in tens of thousands of people, including jihadists who are coming here to murder innocent Americans," Cruz said. "...With respect to he refugees, it is a humanitarian crisis, but they ought to be settled in the middle east, in majority Muslim countries."
...Cruz's comments on the refugee crisis came after a standard stump speech in which he laid out an ambitious agenda for his first day in office, should he win the presidency....
Cruz won several standing ovations from the crowd, receiving the largest applause for his promises to take on "bipartisan corruption from career politicians" and repeal "every word" of the Affordable Care Act.
"I should have just remained standing," said Eaton County Sheriff Michael Raines, who attended the rally with his wife.
