I used to fly Aeroflot frequently in the days when I was poor. I remember once boarding the craft and seeing duct tape applied on the edges of the door... But I never had a bad flight, as God looks after drunks and fools...
I love the old soviet commercial planes. If nobody was sitting in the seat in front of you, you could kick the seat back down and put your legs up!

I flew on Russian AN-24’s when in the Middle East in & out of Baghdad and Kuwait. I have photos of the bald tires and outer doors strapped shut.
I flew on a now defunct airline out of Indianapolis many years ago. Their plane was a Shorts Brothers high wing constructed of plywood. After we got on board, a ground crew guy duct taped the door closed.
Did a bit of flying in Russia myself awhile back. Did you ever land at Sheremeteyov in the mid 90’s? Duct tape everywhere...
