It was an AIRBUS for crying out loud! Sure, castigate the possibilities of shoddy maintenance all day long, that is not the fault of the aircraft.

My number one rule in relating the mechanical design philosophy to my design employees is to remember always that anything and everything mechanical will, eventually, break or wear out. If not maintained, the best machine in the world becomes useless.

Think back to the early 50’s before tactics became a big training issue for our pilots over Korea. Those crappy MIG’s were crawling all over our guys and shooting them out of the sky. I’m sure the last thing our guys were considering was the crappy construction or maintenance of those very fast and maneuverable tin cans.

Yes its an airbus but the Russians do not have a very disciplined approach to maintaining their civilian aircraft.

But why bother arguing about it? The A/C was likely brought down by an internal bomb, either a suicide bomber or a barometric bomb, or a surface to air missile, so the maintenance condition of the A/C is somewhat moot.

Of course, you have zero facts to back up your bias. The fact is, Airbus as a designer and manufacturer, has an excellent record in the thirty year history of the A320 series.
