Could be pilot/copilot sabbatoge. One of them seized controls and maneuvered aircraft in a way that broke it up. The sounds could have been a struggle or stabbing.

But I did hear this aircraft had experienced serious tail damage in a prior incident so mechanical failure remains the most likely cause.

It appears as though our gov't has decided that the closely held capabilities of Sbirs isn't worth worrying about. So they said there was a "heat flash", but no "heat plume".

That suggests an explosion in, or from, the aircraft.

Very strange that we would reveal that information, given that a short investigation will answer the questions.
