OMAHA, Neb. - A new poll shows Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz in the lead among likely Republican voters in Iowa.

According to the Quinnipiac University Poll released Monday morning, Donald Trump stands in the lead with support from 28 percent of likely Iowa Republican Caucus-goers.

Sen. Cruz is a close second with 27 percent.

According to a media release from Quinnipiac, Senator Marco Rubio is in third place with 14 percent, and Dr. Ben Carson has 10 percent.

And the margin of error is?

One point is nothing to scream “lead change!” over.

Looks like Rush Limbaugh's Trump intoxication is wearing off.

Did I just hear him call Trump "Donald McCain"?

I’d rather be a point ahead than a point behind, but you’re right. The other recent poll was from a different polling firm using a different methodology. My guess is averaging the last 2 weeks’ worth of polls will give the best indication what’s going on in Iowa. Also, we’re only 49 days out of the caucus, so the lead changes will be fast and furious from here until the end as this really heats up.

Yeah he pumped Cruz in the first hour, but Rush should know that Cruz’s support in narrow.

28% + 27% = 55%. At this point, that's all I care about with regards to Trump and Cruz. Trashing one candidate over the other, as is being done even here on FR, just benefits the GOPe.

Seriously, if the GOPe had any sense, they would get most candidates to exit the race to try and prop someone up like Rubio.

Just wait until all those new Iowa Caucus voters show up that puts Trump in double digits over Cruz. Cruz doesn’t move the needle his base is narrow.

Oh yeah and Trump’s Iowa people are having how-to caucus classes for all those new Iowa voters.

Cruz or Trump are okay. My worry about trying to take down Trump too early is that then all establishment and media guns will be aimed at Cruz so they can take him down and secure the nomination for Rubio or Yeb!

The longer both stay 1-2 close the better. Trump drowns out the media and establishment efforts on Trump or Cruz. I fear the establishment are pushing Cruz because they know the only way to get an “acceptable” candidate is for Cruz to pass Trump and cause his decline then they take out Cruz.

Cruz is brilliant but we all know he is not supported by the establishment unless he is an alternative to Trump.

Actually with ease. The pollsters in Iowa are missing the new voters that caucus for Trump. These guys, the pollsters, are counting only former Iowa caucus voters in many of their polls. You see all those people in Iowa rallies who in the thousands showing up for Trump, well that doubles as voter drives. And make no mistake about it, Trump is driving all of those newbies to the polls.

Trump really has a good chance to run the tables in all 50 states.

Cruz doubles Rubio.

Time for Rubio to step aside for the good of the party.
