The Bernie Sanders pledge: $2 ATM fees
Las Vegas Now ^ | 1/05/16 | Heather Long

**SNIP**

Sanders has made Wall Street a top issue, and says bankers are "destroying the very fabric of our nation." It's helping him remain competitive in key states like Iowa and, especially New Hampshire.

A decade ago, about half of America trusted banks. Now that trust has fallen to a historic low of just 20%, according to Gallup.

"Greed, fraud, dishonesty and arrogance. These are some of the words that best describe the reality of Wall Street today," Sanders said.

Bernie wants to break up the banks.

We're saved. BTW, has anyone found out where the Bern invests his loot?

Trust me on this... One thing for sure that Bernie knows nothing about is the banking system. Liberals like Bernie live in a made up little fantasy world.

I’m thinking he ain’t talking about ATM fees the banks charge us. I’m thinking he’s thinking about an additional $2 add-on fee to the US government - for the children.

I do remember when ATM's first came out. No fees and the banks declared everyone was saving money by eliminating tellers.

Four bucks!? I don't ever take cash out of another bank or I pay with my bank card.

I don't know how anyone can defend the banks. Executives walked away with millions as bonuses after they destroyed them. People can't accumulate savings because interest rates on savings are near-0%. And people who can't maintain large enough balances to avoid fees? Those fees amount to lower-income people in effect getting negative interest rates. Seniors who did save are being pushed into annuities just to survive, which means they'll have no assets to pass on to the next generation. The Federal Reserve and printing press money have destroyed the foundation of the economy.

The only mystery is why Bernie Sanders can own this issue. You'd think Rand Paul would embraced it. It was his dad's strongest issue.

Well, to be fair . . . the NFL said that the replay rule was to prevent bad calls on the field, and provide more time for Cialis commercials.

If he got his way, it would probably end up as a mandatory $2 fee whether you were in-network or out-of-network. Every ATM transaction at any time: $2. Not an actual improvement.

Because this stuff never works out well.

Grania, please dig a bit and research the Fed and QE and why interest rates are at 0. Tarp and Bush and 0Obama are to blame along with Frank and Dodd and the spineless GOPe-ers.

Check out the Fidelity Cash Management checking account. They reimburse all ATM fees, plus there are no monthly account fees.

I’m sorry but this should demonstrate why Iowa and newHampshire should have special election privileges.. How often do real, working Americans use ATMs... Twice a year.. maybe the traveling affluenza groups.. but not the nose to the grindstone folks. Nope Iowa is subsidy driven.. like a spoiled brat.. state for sale. Now I admit.. I have only been through Iowa and new Hampshire.. maybe there are lots of everyday good folks without price tags.. could be like most states.. the good and faithful are busy working and serving.. while the political prostitutes get all the limelight.

The ATMs I use right now ARE free. Hope I don't have to start paying 2 bucks to use them...

Why should I pay $2 ATM fee when I don’t pay any ATM fees now?

I admit it, I didn’t click the link.

I haven’t paid any fee of any kind to my Credit Union in over 40 years, even the checks are free.

“Four bucks!? I don’t ever take cash out of another bank or I pay with my bank card.”

There you go. Let the vendor/merchant fork out the 4 bucks
instead. Bernie is right obout one thing:
“bankers are “destroying the very fabric of our nation.”

Hello, if you use your banks ATM, there is no fee. The best way to manage your money is to put everything on a credit card and pay the balance off on the due date. I used my AMEX for every purchase and have it set on auto-pay - earn points and cash back with ZERO interest. There is also a built in theft protection, where is someone does lift my AMEX card number it doesn’t come out of my checking account as a debit transaction, I review the statement when it comes out. I am shocked at how financially illiterate some folks are these days.
