Eh, I think NY term is acceptable. I’m from NY and I use a lot of Yiddish words, my cousins from elsewhere find that amusing. I’m sure they think of me as using NY lingo, not “Yiddish”.
NYC folks also use a LOT of Italian words/sayings too. NYC is a polyglot city and always was.
