Evangelicals rip draft registration for women
Columbus Dispatch ^ | February 19, 2016 | Aysha Khan

Posted on 02/20/2016 2:51:38 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Key evangelical leaders are staunchly opposing a proposal to register women for the military draft, saying it would weaken America's military readiness and is at odds with traditional male-female relationships.

"A nation relying on female combatants is a nation that has been brought to its knees by political correctness," said Andrew Walker of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.

Recently in Congress, Army and Marine Corps leaders testified in favor of registering women for the Selective Service.

"Not only Evangelicals, but also Catholics and Christian pacifists should speak out," Chelsen Vicari of the Institute on Religion and Democracy said.

"Can the church be silent about the potentially coercive militarization of America's daughters?"

Ted Cruz breaks from Republican rivals on draft registration for women

"ANDERSON, S.C. - It's one of the more unusual applause lines of the campaign, but Sen. Ted Cruz got a big ovation Tuesday night when he promised supporters that he would try to stop American women from having to register for the draft.

Although not a major voting issue for South Carolina Republicans, the draft has become a symbolic dividing line between conservatives and establishment candidates in the presidential race, and voters are taking note and picking sides.".......................

“and is at odds with traditional male-female relationships”

Men as disposable pack mules and utilities. Women as a protected class with all of the rights of men, with more legal privileges, and with none of the responsibilities.

“Uups. I’m pregnant. Sorry, Uncle Sam.”

Wasted all that money training her, room and board, etc.

Not to mention, we would have trouble supporting a million male draftees. Modern armies need more support than the old M1 riflemen of the good ol’ days.

So I wholeheartedly agree.

Good for Cruz.

That’s a very contrived way of looking at it.

Women do most of the child rearing (not to mention carrying and giving birth) - and they’ll tell you that isn’t a breeze.

If women want to join the military that’s just fine.

I’ve heard the argument that men face greater danger when they’re in combat alongside women because their natural instinct is to protect them. It makes sense to me.

Why not just do away with the draft entirely?

Not in favor of women being drafted (and I have 4 boys). That said... one can not argue with what you have said as if it is not true.

So?

Do women build and create the infrastructure that they raise those kids in without having to really physically exert themselves?

Did they come up with the breakthroughs that make childbirth virtually painless? That has made death from childbirth virtually unknown in this nation?

Do they have to sign up for a draft system so that they are required to put their lives on the line to protect it?

Men are getting fed up with this imbalance.

Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer Endorses Ted Cruz for President

Medal of Honor recipient and Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) for president on Tuesday. Meyer is the second youngest living Medal of Honor recipient and the first living Marine to be honored in 38 years.

Meyer said in a statement first reported by Independent Journal that Cruz was ready to lead the country.

"I am confident that Ted Cruz has the ability and resolve to be Commander-in-Chief. His record of standing up and fighting for what he believes in shows that he is not someone who buckles under pressure. Ted is ready to led this country-and I look forward to help uniting conservatives and veterans behind this campaign," Meyer said.

Cruz, who is coming off of a surprise victory in the Iowa caucus and a strong showing in the New Hampshire primary, accepted the endorsement in a statement, saying that Meyer is "a man of great courage and principle."

"We need to restore America's leadership in the world at a time when Obama's foreign policy has put America and it's national security interests in jeopardy. I am honored to have Dakota's support and have him as part of our team to help win the White House in 2016," Cruz's statement read.

Meyer was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in Afghanistan in September 2009. After learning that three Marines and a Navy corpsman were missing following an ambush by insurgents, Meyer entered an insurgent-held area under enemy fire and located the missing serviceman, who had been killed and stripped of their equipment. Meyer, aided by Afghan forces, moved the bodies to a safer area so that they could be extracted. During his search, Meyer evacuated 12 wounded allies and provided cover for another 24 Marines to escape.

Meyer's endorsement of Cruz comes just days before the Republican primary in South Carolina."

Jim Bridenstine: Ted Cruz's True Record on Military Funding and National Security Is Unassailable

"As a military pilot and veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, I am proud that this week Ted Cruz showed us again why he is the candidate best qualified to be commander-in-chief. Yesterday he laid out a serious, detailed plan for a Reagan-style rebuild of our military that will enable us to utterly defeat the radical Islamic terrorists who have vowed to destroy us. Senator Cruz understands that the essence of "peace through strength" is having the strength to maintain peace, and he's ready to do this hard work. I am proud to have endorsed him and will be proud to serve under him."....

I think our social problems go much deeper.

I know from personal experience that healthy young females can distract a man and their presence makes him irrational, especially when he’s young.

Some young women are the same way.

Males and females should have less contact in the workplace and during education. Church is where they should meet and date, IMHO. Good way to get them attending.

Not saying we should go ‘Shariah law’, but there are too many soap opera moments that cut productivity and ruin education time.

Make the leftists give up their daughters to the draft and they might rethink women’s role in front line combat. They’re for it because, like every other leftist idea, they don’t think they’ll be affected.

Stumping in SC for Cruz:

"U.S. Sen. Bob Smith of New Hampshire served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1962 to 1965, and was on active duty from 1965 to 1967, including a year in Vietnam. He remained in the Navy Reserve until 1969."

TX [December 21, 2000 - January 20, 2015] Governor Rick Perry - Upon graduation from college in 1972, Rick Perry was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and completed pilot training in February 1974. He was then assigned as a C-130 pilot to the 772nd Tactical Airlift Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base. Perry's duties included two-month overseas rotations at RAF Mildenhall in England and Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany."

“A nation relying on female combatants is a nation that has been brought to its knees by political correctness”

Until the gender/racial discrimination allowed by affirmative action is outlawed, I could care less about what this country does to those “preferred minorities” (which happens to include ALL women). Every women lost in combat opens up a potential job for a white guy - it is as simple as that.

Male Israeli soldiers had horrible reactions to seeing women killed; I haven’t heard the same for us (though we’ve had a couple of hundred American women killed between Iraq & Afghanistan).
