Apple CEO Tim Cook attends secret meeting with tech and government elite to plot end to Trump presidential run

Technology industry leaders including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google co-founder Larry Page and Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk met with top GOP representatives at the secretive American Enterprise Institute's annual World Forum this past weekend to discuss how to halt Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, a report said Monday.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, elite U.S. figures representing a swath of corporate, private and political interests attended the conference hosted at the Sea Island resort off the coast of Georgia, an event closed to the public and media, The Huffington Post reports. While other issues were discussed, the main talking point was Trump's bid for the White House.

The supposed guest list reads as a who's who of tech and government. Along with Cook, Page, Musk and Napster creator Sean Parker, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was reportedly on site with House Speaker Paul Ryan, a gaggle of Republican senators and at least one democrat in Maryland Rep. John Delaney. Prominent policy analyst Karl Rove, Deputy Chief of Staff under President George W. Bush, was also present.

The private sector was represented by billionaire Philip Anschutz and The New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger, among others.

"A specter was haunting the World Forum—the specter of Donald Trump," political commentator Bill Kristol wrote in an email from the conference, referencing Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. "There was much unhappiness about his emergence, a good deal of talk, some of it insightful and thoughtful, about why he's done so well, and many expressions of hope that he would be defeated."

Trump infamously called called for a boycott on Apple products in February, a response to the company's resistance against helping FBI agents unlock an iPhone linked to last year's San Bernardino massacre.

The broader encryption debate was also a topic on discussion at the secretive confab, as the report claims Cook sparred with Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), who serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services and Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

"Cotton was pretty harsh on Cook," a source said. "Everyone was a little uncomfortable about how hostile Cotton was."

Which is why the NYT has gone from reporting the news about politics to be actually involved IN politics.

This meeting is proof of that.

An unbiased reporter of news and facts would report ON the meeting, not be a part of it.

Actually, yes...I think Rove knows nothing about technology, the internet, security, international politics.
He only understands one thing.
How to keep the electorate confused enough to keep himself rich.

Here’s how it works:

NY Fed creates digital funds and loans to special member investment banks at next to nothing.

Investment banks loan to their select hedge fund managers authorizing accounts with 40X or more leverage.

Hedge Fund Managers scout success story scenarios to concentrate power and control over emerging elements of various industries.

Fables are drafted for media to pump.

Preparation is made by HF money managers to launch several IPOs on the equity exchanges.

Everyone involved is excited and making lots of money all made possible by special zero rate loans from the NY Fed.

A few candidates (horses in the stable) for a contrived success story are selected. For example, Page, Musk, Zuckerberg.

IPOs are made to select subscribers who are all in the same boat together, Pre-subscription efforts continue until the IPO is fully subscribed.

The IPO is registered with the exchanges and the mutual funds buy the bulk making the pre-subscribers very rich.

The horses in the stable become near overnight billionaires or ‘bubble billionaires’. They are owned by the power of the 40X to 100X leverage that HF managers can destroy them in a week with, and the horses know this.

The liberalism starts with the NY Fed and flows down to its network of members both national and international. Central Banks have a vested interest in ‘arranging’ the world.

Note that Trump has called for auditing the Fed. It should be no mystery then that power brokers and stable horses meet secretly to plot a kill.

Of course he would, price-is-no-object resistance + light & thin. Admits he carries a handgun, too.

Watching Hillary a few days ago, I was wondering if she was likewise armored. Something about the movement of her shirt belied a bulky/stiff garment underneath.

This entire scene is nonsensical and could have been avoided.

The emergence of Donald Trump as the leader of the ‘GOP pack’ is certainly bizarre to say the least.

I really think that if Donald Trump had acted more gentlemanly with regards to his responses to criticism within the debate format, he would have still been easily ahead, but without so much rancor and negativity.

On the other hand why should elite east and west coast folks assume they have the right to decide unilaterally on whom the GOP will select as their nominee? It is nothing more than the old east-west axis which has disdain for us peons in the middle of the country.

Let the people decide the nominee.

Karl Rove and Bill Kristol are both so ‘YESTERDAY’ NERDS..

It is time for both of them to crawl under a rock somewhere and never be seen again...

despise both, and when Rove comes on with his little white board...my remote goes into action..in fact Fox is not on 24/7 like it use to be at my house...only now view a few shows...Greta and the Judge are my two favorite...both women who are not bought off...they leave, I'll totally leave also...

The most successful example of capitalism in the history of man, and its CEO is standing for Liberty.

You’re trying to knock them down.

You’re on the wrong website

House of Cards gave a pretty good look t what can happen at a brokered convention. I hate to recommend this show because of the gratuitous sex scenes, but the inside look at the scum we elect to rule over us is well worth the time to educate some of your less informed friends.

I wish they would let us have the Airline versions, in fact I wish they would offer the TVMA versions edited down to at least TV 14 which is still pretty vile.

“Those tech guys all LibDems. Anyone need more evidence of the Uniparty scenario?”

Know who is a big lobbyist for Microsoft/Bill Gates??

Mr. ISLAM/GOP, GROVER NORQUIST...Karl Rove’s best pal. The guy who brought in the Muslim vote for GW Bush, according to Rove. And we all thought Americans for Tax Reform was about saving US taxes...NOPE! It was to save Bill Gates and pals.
Norquist goes way back lobbying for Gates. He also lobbies for G.E. and many questionable left wing interests.

1998.....$100,000 Microsoft Corp Norquist, Grover G

THE GOP does NOT represent conservatism and has been using all of us to further their cheap foreign labor, special interest trade deals like TPP....

Donald Trump is the only one fighting it!

Surprised to see Tom Cotton there

Ben Sasse didn't show up on the list either but he is certainly in step with them. Big disappointment for this Constitutional Conservative.

The “gay” angle?

In that regard we all know Tim Cook never misses a lick.

As is Mr Trump. Identical as human, not gods, with feet of clay and drowning deep in sin. May the best outcome for our nation prevail.

It’s a war between the voters and the ruling class.

The "ruling class" must be eliminated. Term limit them out and force them to live under the laws they pass from which they now exempt themselves. Any remaining campaign funds donated must be confiscated after the elections and applied to the national debt.
