Anti-Trump Republicans Come to Terms With Cruz Nomination
ABC News ^ | March 10, 2016 | steve peoples and mary clare jalonick, Associated Press

Anxious Republican officials are coming to terms with the idea that their second least favorite GOP presidential candidate — polarizing Texas conservative Ted Cruz — may be the party's best last chance to stop Donald Trump.

"It's an outsider year, and the most logical person to take on Trump based on past performance is Ted Cruz," said another former presidential opponent, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham. Earlier in the year, Graham likened the choice between Cruz and Trump to "being shot or poisoned."

"He's not my preference," Graham said of Cruz. "But we are where we are. And if Trump wins Florida and Ohio, I don't know if we can stop him."

Indeed, next Tuesday's winner-take-all contests in Florida and Ohio have injected a sense of urgency into the GOP's anti-Trump movement.

The billionaire businessman is calling on mainstream Republicans to unify behind his candidacy ahead of next week's primaries, which could give him an insurmountable delegate lead.

"If I win those two, I think it's over," Trump told CNN's "Anderson Cooper's 360."

Dear Teddy changes, on a dime, what he believes is "legal", "right", "true", and "good" IF/WHEN changing helps HIM!

The VERY GOPE Cruz is the 100% white Obama, without the "charm" and ability to read a teleprompter and deliver a speech .

CRUZ IS INELIGIBLE and if Trump took him on, that ticket would LOSE!

Thankfully, Trump isn't that stupid!

If the GOPe believed that spin that cruz is their only hope to take down Trump, then they would make it a 2 man race by next week or sooner

Correct.

They'll keep Rubio and Kasich on life support if it means Trump gets to the convention without 1237 delegates.

Yep, and to think he could have been Trump’s VP if he had only fought fairly.

Trump does not hold grudges if it is bad for business
Ted could still be a contender
Even weasels can make great apprentices
And I think when Trump chooses a political figure as his VP it will be as a full working team mate not just a geographic/regional/ethnic/ gender vote balancer

The reason you’re seeing this Cruz-realization revelation is because the GOPe still hates Trump because they won’t be able to control him -ever, not like they did with W. or HW for that matter.

But the dirty little secret is though, that they HATE Cruz, too! What they’re doing is fomenting unrest and disease between the two camps while simultaneously keeping Rubio and Kasich in the mix (when a sane candidate would have dropped out already) JUST to keep Trump and/or Cruz from getting that magic number of delegates.

The very last thing they want is to have either the Trump camp coalesce around Cruz or vice versa. So with Trump leading they throw a meatless bone of hope to the Cruz camp in order to keep them in place - all spoiling each others’ chances. Rubio is there to deny Cruz, and Kasich is there to Deny Trump Ohio, maybe Illinois.

GOPe wants a first vote failure in the nomination convention so they can trot out whatever relic they have waiting in the wings.

Jeb may give Rubio more mercy than he showed Terri Schiavo, and orchestrate for him a noble and dignified exit to keep his political career

After all, Foam Boy will owe the Bushes a blood debt if they help him become governor

That leaves the Willard for President club, inc to fund Kasich the Affable as the designated splitter who picks up a loyalty award at convention time when Mr Congeniality runner up Ted Cruz goes back to DC as a richer Senator

WHY IS ANYONE MEETING WITH BUSH!?!?!?! or ROMNEY!?!?!

they’re losers!!!!!

VERY DIAPPOINTED WITH THIS NEWS.

come on Ted, you were young. ‘24 you’ll still be 53. how much integrity are you going to throw away before then.

I slam trump for what I see as a lack of integrity in many situations.

there’s no one decent human being running!!

still, i’ll pull the lever in November, if only for entertainment purposes at the Trump Show for four years.

I really do not understand why the GOPe is so much against Trump,

Because Trump does nothing for their cushy little country club lifestyle that is paid for by the very same people who are not welcome in to that exclusive club; the taxpayers.  Trump has tapped in to the anger.

Seeing Linda have to issue mild praise for Ted pleases me immensely, given what an absolute prick he has been towards him. I know that little worm died a little inside when he had to do that. Oh noes, maybe he'll have to haul his fainting couch over to Turtle Mitch's when he goes to tearfully ask him to pass a meaningless resolution declaring Ted is eligible! I hope they both have a stroke.

Yes! Yeeeeesssssss! Mmmmmm your tears are so yummy and sweet!"

You've gotta eat it, Linda. Now you can EAT ME (and Cruz, muahahaha)!

And that relic may very well be Mittens.  He did file papers with the FEC in January. That's on record.

The MSM and GOPe picking our candidate again.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Trump has gotten millions of dollars worth of “free press”. And he is supposedly the front runner. So yes, the media has chosen our next candidate again and he will lose to Hillary.

Cruz will obviously be stripped appart by the msm and establishment IF he was the nominee .

So called Conservatives here have already done a great job if ripping Cruz apart. Without cause. I might add.

Will Ted betray the rebellion? Will he be able to resist the power if the dark side?

Do not dismiss the decency of Donald Trump the man.
He is brash and vulgar, proud, inexperienced and still home schooling in dealing with politics and a hostile media, slipped up morally in his first marriage by not divorcing before fornicating ... But unethical?
Do not confuse his using every legal business tool in his pursuit of prosperity. To not do so would be unethical to his investors. Been influenced by the word “ bankruptcy”? Trump used bankruptcy law not to discharge business debt but to restructure debt obligations. Creditors got their money back with less interest or longer repayment terms sthan they first expected, or they got ownership of the properties to run as they saw fit. His biggest creditor in the first bankruptcy? Carl Icahn. Has nothing ill to say of Trump, may become his Treasury Secretary.

Just the fact that Donald Trump has been targeted by the GOPe is getting Trump support from Republicans...and democrats.

We are being played.

The GOPe wants to see Cruz get enough delegates to force a brokered convention so they can slip in Romney or someone else who is their ally. If Cruz were to win they would stop the momentum of his campaign with lawsuits challenging his eligibility and either get him to resign before the convention and replace him with a GOPe candidate or get him to resign during the campaign.

There is no way that they would support Cruz through the election. None.
