Cruz knocks Trump over Palestine
The Hill ^ | March 21, 2016 | Ben Kamisar

Posted on 03/21/2016 9:08:04 PM PDT by GodGunsGuts

Sen. Ted Cruz landed an immediate blow on GOP presidential rival Donald Trump, who spoke before him Monday at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference, for how the front-runner referred to the Palestinian people.

"Let me say at the outset, perhaps to the surprise of the previous speaker, Palestine has not existed since 1948," Cruz said to lead off his speech in Washington.

Trump repeatedly referred to the Palestinian people as "Palestine" during his remarks just minutes before Cruz. Neither the United States nor Israel recognizes Palestine as a country...

It is the “Palestinians” that are trying to redefine the word from a region to a state. That was the very reason for the UN declaration that SubMareener is referring to. When you use the word on their terms , it is you that doing the leftest act of redefining words.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

“He wrote a book publicly bragging about cheating on his wives (plural) and cheating with wives of other “powerful men”. That is simply a fact.

Can you really suggest Reagan would have done such a thing or that there is any moral equivalence???”

Ronald Reagan was a Hollywood bachelor. He didn’t have the poor taste to advertise his romantic partners but that didn’t make him an angel.

BTW, you didn’t answer the question regarding whether Trump’s first two wives left him.

Are you really going to suggest that a man that writes a book bragging about cheating on his wives and about cheating with the wives of other powerful men has any moral equivalence to Ronald Reagan’s life?

Really?

Can you imagine Reagan going on Howard Stern to “chat” about his sex life to entertain the masses? Trump did.

Really?

“Are you thinking of Ronald Reagan?”

You can be sure that DB forgot that Reagan was divorced once. Otherwise this wouldn’t have gotten posted:

” If you can’t honor your oath to your wife I don’t expect you to honor an oath to much else.”

I never said he was an angel.

Just because one isn't an angle doesn't mean they have to be a cad.

You're trying to draw a moral equivalence and a pretty wide moral canyon... It is no small thing that you publicly brag about something like that instead of having some semblance of shame and regret.

I don't know if Trump's previous wives left him or not. I don't care.

But writing a tell-all book isn’t what you were criticizing Trump about. Your exact words were:

” If you can’t honor your oath to your wife I don’t expect you to honor an oath to much else.”

So tell us how you know that his wives didn’t decide to dump him. It’s what happened to Reagan. Trump is a homebody. Ivana wasn’t. She wanted a more active social life.

“I don’t know if Trump’s previous wives left him or not. I don’t care. “

And yet what you were blaming him for was leaving his wives. Without caring what the facts might be.

So evidently your real concern isn’t the facts (small surprise) but rather you just wanted to take the chance to charge him with not honoring his marriages and by extension claim that his word is no good (whereas yours is as pure as the driven snow).

Oh so divorce is the same as cheating on your wife... And if your wife divorces you, you’ve broken your oath? Again, I think not. There’s no indication Reagan cheated on his first wife while there is that she cheated on him before she filed for divorce.

You are too much to try draw some sort of moral equivalence between the two. Not even close.

I didn’t say anything about him leaving his previous wives.

I said he publicly bragged about CHEATING on them. And CHEATING with other peoples wives.

And you are trying to say that was essentially equivalent morally to Reagan’s life...

But writing a tell-all book IS what I was criticizing Trump about. That cheating and bragging about it is the evidence of his lack of abiding by his oath and lack of honor.

Now your straw manning about what she wanted. It doesn’t matter.

Maybe Reagan would have done an interview for Playboy. Jimmy Carter did. You have to understand that Trump was a product of the Baby Boom Generation. The 60s had a great influence on that generation because of the sexual revolution. It was when Trump was a teenager. He probably had a few Playboys under his mattress. Today we have a greater sense of morality then the excesses of the 60s. And, I agree, we should expect that Trump should look back at his immoral ways with disgust.

When you mentioned Howard Stern, my thoughts jumped to Megyn Kelly. I listened to Stern interview Megyn on his show.

This discussion has gone off track with talk about Trump’s sex life and Magyn Kelly. No more.

Depends on if you value making historic deals and having a legacy is more important than defending our most valuable ally in a hostile region.

I give you credit, GGG. I’ve been away from FR for awhile, and see nothing’s changed. You, or anyone, posts a legitimate article from a legitimate site, and you get trashed, as does Ted Cruz. Nowhere in any of the responses, do I see a reasoned response to the subject of the article. This used to be a conservative site, where you could discuss, even debate political ideology with reasonable people. No more. Trump may win, but conservative he is not, nor is this site.
