Marco Rubio: My Lukewarm Praise Of Ted Cruz Wasn't An Endorsement
TPM ^ | 04/13/16 | Katherine Krueger

After making tepidly positive remarks about former GOP presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) set the record straight on Wednesday: It wasn't an endorsement.

"I'm not endorsing in this race right now. I don't have any announcement to make, I was just answering the question," Rubio told reporters.

Rubio was referring to a Tuesday interview with conservative radio host Mark Levin where he said he wants a conservative in the White House and Cruz is the only candidate left standing that fits his criteria.

if only he’d wake up...

Rubio may be waking up to the fact the GOP used him. First with the Gang of 8 and now in the presidential race. He’s young and impressionable. Money and power make people act strange. Other than immigration, which happens to be the most important issue, I don’t see a problem with him.

FWIW, I'd prefer a Rubio who has to WAKE UP on one (even if it's the most important one) issue to Kasich who's wrong about everything, and proud of it.

Rubio has actually come around enough to say that illegals have to be kept out of the US. He seems more aware of how H1B visas hurt US workers than Cruz knows or cares. His blind spot is that he'd let illegals who've been here a long time and been productive citizens, after jumping through a lot of hoops, stay.

I actually think Rubio can be mentored. His blind spot is partially from his cultural heritage. He’d actually be a good “fit” with Trump, on issues, areas of expertise, and social and economic backgrounds.

“but he has successfully and completely disappointed me.”

I’ve been here for 26 years and my wife is home grown here. I was surprised to see what little support he has in our area (St.Pete Beach). There was a long article (one of the large papers) written weeks before the FL primary that documented how Rubio stepped on every party insider in the state that helped him move up the ladder. One guy stated that after he backstabbed everyone, he couldn’t be elected dogcatcher. If you remember, Trump started using the “dogcatcher” meme just before the primary.

Rubio needs to make a deal with somebody to save his career; he won’t win his senate seat back. He needs to choose wisely if he wants to salvage a future in FL politics;and I doubt that future includes Ted Cruz.

It sure is.

Levin: Rubio ‘Lied His Way’ To Get Elected To The U.S. Senate, ‘Got A Huge Trust Factor’

from Breitbart article, 22 Feb 2016.

Guess Levin will have Orrin Hatch up as his next trustworthy guest.

Levin should check the acoustics in the bunker. Bad feedback loop there.

Rubio is 100 percent more conservative then Cruz except immigration.

He knows what he’s doing.

My speculation is that he is holding off doing anything with them or making an endorsement, because that might unintentionally release some of his delegates to be free agents, which could ultimately end up voting for Trump on the first ballot. He doesn’t want to inadvertently put Trump over the top with loose delegates.

He may be holding them for the second ballot, at which time Deceptive Donnie will not have nearly the same delegates he had for the first ballot.

“Rubio is 100 percent more conservative then Cruz except immigration.”

Rubio is 100% more conservative than Trump on nearly every issue and is basically the SAME on immigration.

That's an asinine comment. The only senator rated more conservative than Cruz is Mike Lee (who has endorsed Cruz). I agree that Rubio is a lot more conservative than most on this forum want to admit.

Until shebang! They come out on the second ballot!

This doesn’t work to Trump’s advantage.

Actually Rubio is a reliable conservative and against the grain of the insider crowd. if only he’d wake up about the need to stop and reverse the invasion of the US.
==

THe border is the issue that determines all others.

Doesn’t that make he, and his gang of 8, the ultimate traitors to conservatism.

Oh please. Rubio is way more intelligent on national security then Cruz. Rubio is incredibly pro life, against
Gay marriage (Cruz said law of the land). Pro 2nd amendment. Heck Cruz is for a VAT. He’s actually very liberal in areas that Rubio isn’t.

Yesterday, Cruz supporters were tabulating Rubio’s and Cruz’s delegate count together in glee because it was CLOSE to Trump. Guess they have to use the minus button, now.

He can’t. It’s his core belief. He just needs to own it and stop flip flopping.

Cool. They can help each other. A trump-Rubio ticket would be strong. Maybe not as cool to you as Hillary-Castro but doable.

The joke’s on you.

Deceptive Donnie needs some of those delegates for him to get over the top on the first ballot.

Little Marco’s going to release them at the opportune time, on the second ballot, when Cruz can take advantage of them. :-)
