***** Name calling directed at Cruz or at his voters will not make it more likely for the 30% of republican voters who preferred Cruz to vote Trump in November. That conduct makes it more likely for Hillary to win.*****
So, you’re saying something as simple as a Trump supporter gloating over a win can control who you vote for? Are you really that easily manipulated?
I'm saying that the behavior of a candidate's supporters affects the perception of the candidate. Look at the comments from Trump supporters on how Beck (and eventually Romney and Jeb) affected their view of Cruz. I'm not saying it should be that way, but it is. My vote was decided a long time ago, and the immaturity of celebratory Trump voters will not affect my vote. Unfortunately, a lot of voters make their decisions based on foolish or trivial reasons.
Rudeness is ugly. Kicking a man when he's down is ugly. A whole lot of anti-Cruz comments on FR have been ugly for several months. Far fewer (but still too many) anti-Trump comments on FR have been ugly in the past few months, not because Cruz voters are more polite and mature but because there were fewer of them on FR and everywhere else. Choosing to be ugly, when that increases the risk of Hillary winning, strikes me as shockingly stupid. If some people enjoy behaving in that manner so much that they are okay with the cost, I hope they are at least being well paid by America's enemies.
