Clinton’s Path to Citizenship Would Harm American Workers and Legal Immigrants
Progressives for Immigration Reform ^ | May 10, 2016 | PFIR

Hillary Clinton just promised to create a path to full citizenship for illegal aliens within her first 100 days in office, if she wins the presidency. Granting citizenship and work privileges to more than 11 million illegal aliens would jeopardize American workers’ job security and insult the millions of legal immigrants who played by the rules.

Illegal aliens are already active in the labor force. But their lack of legal status keeps them out of certain jobs. If they gained legal status, these unlawful laborers could challenge Americans for positions in every industry. That’d be disastrous for the roughly 8 million Americans currently unemployed, as well as tens of millions more who face stagnant wages due to an oversupplied labor market.

Offering the perks of citizenship to illegal aliens is also a slap in the face to naturalized citizens who came to the United States legally.

The process to become a citizen is a long one. Foreigners must first apply for an immigrant visa — and to be eligible, they must obtain sponsorship from a prospective employer or a relative who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Illegal aliens, meanwhile, are sponsored by their own two feet.

After securing a visa, aspiring citizens must reside in the United States for more than five years and not travel outside of the United States for extended periods. Additionally, they must pass a test on civics and U.S. history in order to earn the rights of citizenship.

Although U.S. workers would benefit from less immigration overall — both legal and illegal — naturalized citizens deserve credit for following the law and striving to contribute to American society. Letting illegal aliens cut the line would be deeply unfair.

If Clinton makes good on her promise, her first 100 days could prove calamitous for Americans struggling with unemployment and stagnant wages. Let’s hope she walks it back.

[snip]PFIR’s Environmental Impact Statement: Part II May 2, 2016 | PFIR

Earth Day Network, an environmental advocacy group, plans to plant 7.8 billion trees by 2020. Americans are going to need every one of them to mitigate the environmental damage done by the nation’s immigration policies.

As PFIR’s new Environmental Impact Statement explains, immigration drives rapid population growth. That, in turn, drastically increases the pace of urban sprawl and the loss of farmland and wildlife diversity.

If America continues to admit foreign nationals at the current rate of 1.25 million annually, the country’s population will grow by 215 million people by 2100.

Such growth will make the U.S. environment unrecognizable. The United States would need to develop 79 million additional acres of land — the combined size of Kentucky, Indiana, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Cities will swallow their suburbs, and rural areas between metro areas will disappear entirely.

Up to 75 million of those lost acres would be wildlife habitat. Future Americans might have to watch Bambi just to see a deer.

I am amazed that some on the left recognize the damage illegal aliens are doing to the country.

That 11 million figure is about 15 years old, it must be at least 30 million by now.

Clinton’s Path to Citizenship Would Harm American Workers and Legal Immigrants

This "woman" went back to bed while four Americans were tortured and butchered at Benghazi and she followed that up by vowing to put every American Coal Miner out of work. You don't seriously believe, that after she steals the election, she will give a "flying flip" about American worker peasants, do you?

I haven’t seen anyone here or in the article say anything like that.

Another good article from PFIR and as close to a Trump Endorsement as you’ll get from the left.

Who is equipped to be President of the United States?

[snip] While Trump is far from my perfect choice, he started his rise talking about building a wall between Mexico and the US. The contentious issue of real immigration reform has never been legitimately addressed by either party.

That’s not racist. It is not a mark of fascism to hold other countries accountable for treating America unfairly. In addition, I’m not in the nitpicking business. Trump and every other politician misspeak at times.

The gotcha game is cheap and boring. For example, if you really believe Donald Trump is courting the KKK, you need to get some fresh air.”

My wife immigrated here legally back in 1968. She got a green card, and applied for citizenship. She was told at that time, that coming to the US was a privilege and not a right. If she wanted to work and be a productive member of society all was fine. But, if she committed a crime, went on welfare, or in any way became a drain on society, she would be immediately deported. In 1973, she became a legal citizen of the US.

We should only accept single attractive women between the ages of 18-25. No men at all. No children.

I think that a lot of the $$$$ for politicians in support of open borders and illegal immigration is up for grabs.
Hillary loves money.

I don’t know if those with the open border money really want to legalize illegals or just keep the status quo. It would not make sense for people that hire them, if made legal they will move on to better jobs and those businesses would need more cheap labor.

If the money people ask her to make them legal I am sure she will do her best; but amnesty talk might be just to get their votes. Illegals manage to do a lot of things here that they shouldn’t be able to do so I have no doubt they vote.

That is as it should be done. When people tell me it is just “too hard” for illegals to come here legally or become citizens I cringe. It should not be easy. I would imagine parts of the process do need tweaking, some of the red tape needs to be looked at but we should not be handing out citizenship to people for showing up.

It would in no way be fair to your wife and others that went through the legal process for illegals to just be pronounced legal but that is what the open borders people want to do.
