U.S. Officials Fear Saudi Collapse If New Prince Fails
NBC News ^ | 17 June 2016 | Robert Windrem, William M. Arkin

The Saudi prince who seems to have won a family power struggle is meeting with U.S. officials this week -- some of them the same officials who are concerned his reign could be ruinous and hurt the regional security U.S. officials crave.

Officials in the national security establishment believe Saudi Arabia is at a crossroads, and that if the prince doesn't succeed, now and later as king, there could be chaos in the Kingdom. "It's him or it's ISIS," said one Saudi expert who asked that his name not be used.

Mohammed Bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's 30-year-old deputy crown prince, is on a tour of the U.S. that will include New York and Silicon Valley. His biggest meetings are with top U.S. officials in Washington, D.C., this week, including Secretary of State Kerry on Monday and a scheduled visit with President Obama at the White House Friday morning.

But the big news, suggest U.S. officials, is that bin Salman is here at all, since he's technically second-in-line to his father King Salman's throne. He seems to have gained the upper hand on his cousin and rival Mohammed Bin Nayef, the crown prince and a longtime U.S. favorite. The trip is essentially a state visit without the fanfare.

What, exactly, is the downside if Saudi collapses?

Since oil is tanking and plentiful, Mohammed Bin Salman (aka Seldom Bin Sober) has the brilliant idea of investing in the stock market as the future for Saudi Arab-ia instead of actually creating something that provides value. Stupid frigging camel humper.

Things can get much worse in Saudi Arabia if the Royal Family collapses all of a sudden. Think of Syrian Civil War on steroids.

Gee , wonder when Saudi Arabia will allow Christians to have a church in that country. seems like here in the US, everyone has to support the Muslims to have a mosque and minaret and the clarion call for the call to pray to the fake and false god Allah. Churches throughout America are being told - you can no longer have your church bells be rung because it is offensive to the muslims that live in your community.

america the melting pot - a long as you are a muslim. christian and Jew go away is the motto of this degenerate Odumbo Administration

“Does anyone know when they say the guy is “a longtime US favorite””

Crown Prince Nayef has been nicknamed “the Prince of Darkness” because of his role in security/intelligence operations in the Kingdom. He is seen as tough on terrorists.

He conducted a crackdown on some terrorist organizations there, which led them to try to assassinate him - by a suicide bomber with a bomb literally up inside his butt! The bombers body absorbed enough of the blast that Prince Nayef survived.

It was entertaining to watch jihadi talking heads pontificate and issue fatwas afterward, where they said that although it is normally impermissible to indulge in homosexual sex, it can be OK, if you are doing it so that you can be stretched out to hold a bigger bomb for a suicide attack!

The gist of the story is that the much younger (30) Deputy Crown Prince Mohhamad bin Salman seems to have won out internally for influence over policy decisions, and possibly for taking over after old King Salman (his dad) dies. Nayef is said to be sick, and may never be up to job.

The changes in Saudi Arabia are big - oil may never get as expensive as it was, due to new technology to extract shale oil, and projected future solar developments. The Saudis are trying to restructure in a big way.

Their State Religion, the Wahhabi sect of Sunni Islam, is also the center of gravity of Sunni terrorism - al Queda, ISIS, Boko Haram, Muslim Brotherhood, al Shabab, you name it. So a lot is riding on the new guy. One fear expressed (and promoted by the royal family), is that the alternative to Saudi rule is takeover by ISIS-like jihadis.

The young Prince also recently stated that the Kingdom has financed 20% of Hillary’s campaign (illegal actually), and he may be here looking for delivery on some of the influence he has bought. But then again, they may have extorted the money out him, because the Kingdom is in such straits.

If saudi arabia collapses, where will US politicians get their bribes from? That is a problem for many, many US politicians.

Thank you for explaining that.

Can’t WAIT to tell my Lesbian LibTard Sister that 20% of Hillary’s! cash comes from a gay-hating Saudi prince.

*SMIRK* Yep. I’m mean that way...

The Prince is reported to have claimed that he provided 20% of Hillary’s funding - no proof on the US side of that claim (it would have to have been laundered somehow).

And the Prince does not necessarily hate gays - he may simply want them executed out of concern for their own good, like the imam lecturing in Florida the day after the Pulse Nightclub shootings.

Saudi is the one semi-consistent Arab ally nation and basically the only one useful and/or cooperative in any real capacity. They will clean their own house of the real whackos because they appreciate Western prosperity and military power enough to at least let their ‘poor brothers’ get blown up and shot.

American politicians are also afraid of losing their source of bribes, and the strategists are scared sick of a ‘domino effect’ if the country goes into chaos and a hardline Islamist takes over.

You got that right. The uniparty is wondering about their future payoffs/meal tickets.

Whinin Ryan is probably especially concerned.

and possibly for taking over after old King Salman (his dad) dies.

Inasmuch as King Salman has been reported to be in the early stages of dementia, he may be taking over much sooner than anyone here expects, if he hasn't already...
