I started out life in a racially desegregated environment, and have never had a *thing* on race, my entire life. Thank goodness that evil was never baked into my psyche.

Nice to read your posts. Grew up in LA too, knowing bad people wanted to kill my dad when he was a boy and how my grandparents sent him to another country to save him, and about grandfather in a concentration camp. My mother was extremely anti racist and used to sing old slave songs and cry and explain them to me. (No more auction block for me, etc) she caught a friend of my brother’s saying the n word in our back yard and yelled mightily at him. A lot of Jewish families did have a racist streak that I didn’t understand. They would never say the n word but they sure threw around the term schvartze. Same thing. They didn’t use it just to mean black. They used it in a pejorative way. I was offended. Proud my mom and dad raised me right.
