To: DIRTYSECRET

We took over the Philippines as a result of winning
the Spanish-American War. Fighting between Filipino
guerrillas and US military went on for years. In the
mid 1930s FDR signed a document granting independence
in 1946. The Japanese invaded the PIs starting in
Dec ‘41. The US took back the PIs in ‘45 and honored
their agreement to grant independence in ‘46 and secured
naval and military bases in the process.

Just a little fairly accurate FYI.
