My mother was born in Picton, Ontario in 1920. Came here as a little girl with my grandmother. When I went to Picton to do some genealogy research on my family, I found that I not only had a Patriot great-grandfather who served as a Lieutenant in a NY county militia, but that I also had Tory ancestors who had gone to Canada. One of that Lieutenant's sons left New York State, and moved to Canada after the Revolutionary War. That's the line my mother was descended from. I had a great-uncle who served from Sophiasburgh in the 38th Battalion CEF - Ottawa, during WWI, and was killed in France, and is buried there in a British Military Cemetery. Was able to get a photo of his headstone from the military records in Ottawa. Oh, and I'm also a cousin of the late Tim Horton. Never heard of him until I went to Picton, met cousins I didn't know I had, and they told me of our connection to Horton.
You have a very interesting and noteworthy family history.
Good to know you have Canadian blood...If we could ever get rid of this PM and get a Conservative PM similar to Harper we would really have something going with all of North America.
