Vice President-elect Pence to Take Over Trump Transition Effort
nyt ^ | November 11, 2016 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR, MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MAGGIE HABERMANNOV

Mr. Trump’s administration is being assembled behind the scenes. But like much else in the nation’s capital, little stays secret for long.

The list of names being mentioned as possibilities for crucial posts in Mr. Trump’s cabinet is growing by the hour, giving official Washington what it craves most: a never-ending parlor game as speculation grows about who might actually get the nod.

A big revelation may come soon, according to Mr. Trump himself, who took to Twitter on Friday morning with some news. “Busy day planned in New York,” the president-elect said. “Will soon be making some very important decisions on the people who will be running our government.” ...

For now, the vice president-elect, Mike Pence, will play a more prominent role, according to two advisers to Mr. Trump, as will Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama. Both Mr. Pence and Mr. Sessions have been involved in the transition since it began, but Mr. Christie’s role may now change, according to the advisers.

...

Mr. Giuliani told CNN on Thursday that he might accept an appointment as attorney general, saying that “there’s probably nobody that knows the Justice Department better than me.”

I think his results were pretty good. He kept Satan’s Daughter out of the White House by exposing her endless lies. He started the dominoes falling.

This is Pence’s wheelhouse, let him roll. Good idea to take Christie out of the limelight for a while although I still hope he has a big role. The transition period needs to focus on putting a new government together not being drawn off with distractions.

That includes the likes of Rush, Levin, et al who will be sniping from the sidelines and second-guessing every decision.

No results? I hope you are joking? The man never lost a car as a federal prosecutor. Was one who had a part in uncovering Hillary. You are aware in his present capacity he doesn’t have the authority to prosecute?

With all the good news that keeps coming out it feels like Christmas.

I am so over the moon since 2:40 am ET Wednesday morning. It's like having TEN Christmases every day! Even Sheriff David Clarke is smiling! :-D

oh, definitely we need Rudy in there to clean up DOJ and FBI and to prosecute fully the Clinton Crime machine. Obama might grant her a pardon re the email server, but can or would he grant pardons for ALL of them? A lot of people are involved in that enterprise.

Rudy is MUCH tougher than Trey. Rudy can serve for two years or thru the first Trump term, then maybe Trey can take over once Rudy drains the DOJ/FBI swamp.

Sounds like he's easing Chris Christie off to the sidelines.

Not that that's a bad thing. I appreciate his support of Trump but past history shows me he can't be trusted. If the election went the other way, he'd probably be giving Hillary a bear hug right about now.

On Wednesday Mark Levin was begging Trump to get Christie off of his transition team. Say what you want about Levin but he’s right about this. Christie is a Rino... and it sounds like Trump is listening to conservatives. With all the good news that keeps coming out it feels like Christmas.

Yup, yep, and yeah to all three things that you said.

Maybe they are thinking of giving Rudy the special assignment and making Christie the AG cause he’s younger?

My advice for Mr. Trump - finally, after almost two years of constant campaigning, take a week off.

You have an excellent second-hand in Pence. A better choice could not have been made!

seriesly!!

LOL! The NY Times, the oracle of all things journalism, had to correct itself because it DID NOT KNOW WHAT STATE Jeff Sessions represented!

Maybe that would be a good thing. Staff meetings congressional testimony, immediate calls to the White House, quick trip to a field office for the local celebration of the first black US attorney in District 7 - another trip to Vienna for an international Justice conference - that stuff will run you ragged and you don’t get much done.

Pence is the right choice. The VP doesn’t have a constitutional responsibility except presiding over the Senate. Giuliani will have his hands full assuming he gets Attorney General.
