President-elect Donald Trumps team is considering moving the press briefing room out of the White House's West Wing, according to Trump's incoming chief of staff, Reince Priebus.
When asked about an Esquire magazine report that the incoming administration plans to move the press room out of the West Wing to the Old Executive Office Building next door, Priebus told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week", "The one thing that we discussed was whether or not we want to do conferences in the [Executive Office Building]."
"Which, by the way, is the White House," Priebus added. "So no one is moving out of the White House. That is the White House, where you can fit four times the amount of people in the press conference, allowing more press, more press coverage from all over the country to have those press conferences. That's what we're talking about."
The news of a possible change in venue for White House press corps briefings comes after a very contentious first press conference by the president-elect last week.
I know some of the folks in the press are uptight about this and I understand, Priebus said on This Week. The only thing that's been discussed is whether or not the initial press conferences are going to be in that small press room. For the people listening to this that don't know this, the press room that people see on TV is very, very tiny -- 49 people fit in that press room.

“Put them all in a fleabag hotel in down town DC”
I hear the Vista International hasn’t had much business since ol Marion Barry left town
I am so tired of the "mainstream media" continuing to bully everyone into believing that they are the only legitimate news sources. Can't wait for Trump to introduce them to the free market.
Aly DUKAKIS??? Is she Mikey’s kid?
I’m pretty Tyler Durden will be there.
Charge for internet useage.
Only fair.
After all, the libs favor progressive income tax rates so progressive fees for access is in keeping with that philosophy.
Excellent suggestions all, and I would only offer one modification. For situations like the JFK assassination or the attempt on Ronald Reagan’s life, a small number of reporters should be allowed to travel with the POTUS. By small, I cite the example of 9-11. When President Bush left Florida, the traveling press pool was reduced to three members: a broadcast reporter (Ann Compton of ABC Radio); a print representative and a correspondent from the AP. Everyone else was left to their own devices to cover the story and get back to D.C.
No reason to give dozens of reporters a guaranteed seat on Air Force One, even if their organizations reimburse the government for their travel. Media outlets can afford to put their White House reporters on a commercial flight and if they don’t want to do that, most of them have bureaus and correspondents in areas where the president is traveling. Let them cover the visit.
CHANGE!
Trump’s team continues to amaze. I’m thrilled with this potential expansion of the people’s spokespersons into the White House press pool. Ban those who yell at the president like the CNN jerk, he was an abomination.
So the head of the White House Press Association demands to meet with Trump’s press secretary to discuss the issue. Who does he think he is, the local union boss who marched up from the union hall?
Let Matt Drudge have a front row seat. He has more viewers than most of the msm.
