WASHINGTON — Americans are getting older, but not this old: Social Security records show that 6.5 million people in the U.S. have reached the ripe old age of 112.
In reality, only few could possibly be alive. As of last fall, there were only 42 people known to be that old in the entire world.
But Social Security does not have death records for millions of these people, with the oldest born in 1869, according to a report by the agency’s inspector general.
Only 13 of the people are still getting Social Security benefits, the report said. But for others, their Social Security numbers are still active, so a number could be used to report wages, open bank accounts, obtain credit cards or claim fraudulent tax refunds.

I’m confused: Does Social security now guarantee that you will live to be 112?
My wife found that another person (located in Californicate -ia) has her SSN. She contacted Social Security.
They did essentially nothing.
It does appear that the person (male) has not tried to do anything illegal with it, and we’re tracking, but is it not interesting that the government trolls are totally uninterested in correcting what is obviously an indication that their records are all fu....er....Dorkbama’d up.
If that is so, then cancel or recycle the numbers..................

I am surrounded by about 100,000 of them right no in Pacoima, Ca. a Town with 17,000 Citizens and 112,000 Residents.

Funny thing is, they can fix it in 5 minutes. When my Wife got her Green Card and New SS#, she went to apply for credit at Kohls, they denied her and looked very strangely at her. When I ordered a Copy of the credit report pursuant to be denied, it turned out she was a Middle Aged Mexican living on Central California with a Mortgage,Car Payment, Job,.....
When I sent it Homeland Security they FIXED IT OVERNIGHT, same with the IRS, I got the letter still somewhere notifying Every Credit Agency that this was a Newly Issued Number and to CLOSE ALL ACCOUNTS previously associated with it.
It was ALL FIXED OVERNIGHT! !!
It is had to believe that disability and/ or survivor benefits are non existent within a group of 6.5 million Social Security numbers.
I question the number receiving benefits.
So the real takeaway from this article is that there is a LOT of opportunity to defraud the SSA.

They get SS numbers from live people too. When I moved to a new state I had to produce my social security card because someone had already obtained a driver's license under my number.
What do they mean, the numbers are still active? Just sitting in the system and not purged? How many for people that are 111? 110? etc.
Let’s see, the one born in 1869 would be 148 this year, so I’m pretty sure I’m safe in assuming he’s dead.
