Well, for better or worse, he was the harbinger of the GOP we have today.
He wasn’t. We had the Doles, the Snows, the McCains...
He was a lousy governor. He did a number of things I wish he hadn’t, and very little I had wanted him to.
Was that better than the Left would have done? Undoubtedly.
He was essentially George Bush in California.
