My Congressman announced publicly that he was opposed to the bill. He's far from a FC member ... this is a moderate district at best.

I'm still waiting for anyone in the GOP to call him out the way the FC is being criticized.

P.S. -- He gave several concrete reasons for opposing the bill, but the only real reason was that more than 75% of his constituents opposed it. You'd have to be retarded to support a crappy piece of legislation under those circumstances.

What you said plus one other thing:

Unless I’m crazy (always possible !) I read from LS that the EO DJT signed (or maybe Price signed) made ALL health care plans now “qualified” health care plans.

If that’s true, then Obamacare is already dead and we’re only waiting for the autopsy.

PS...if I don’t reply to a post, it’s because I’ve gone to bed. I worked all night - graveyard shift person.

I don’t know how, in reality. I don’t think it can be done.

In my fantasy, we start by handing almost everything except national defense and border regulation back to the states.

When you have a boss who is aggressively forcing an immoral solution which violates your core convictions and promises to your constituents, he needs to be be publicly embarrassed.

The FC people need to be heard, dealt with, and coerced to unify behind Trump...

Coerced? The FC cannot be bought off with pork. They are standing on their conservative principals. Something liberals just don't understand.

Scott Adams articulates the move quite well: Trump is “failing up” to a better position.

The problem with the “repeal only” crowd is that we haven’t yet convinced enough (by a long shot) of Congress to go that route. Trump can’t make that happen if he doesn’t get a viable bill declaring it. For whatever reason, the RINOs think they _must_ include “and replace”. The RINOs are now faced with a more severe choice: either play along with the Left and practically preserve the very Obamacare they were elected to eliminate, or create & sell a palatable form of “repeal”.

Trump is playing this well, compelling the RINOs to suck it up and do what they were elected for, or sell out completely and self-immolate in the process. He basically said “I’ll pass whatever you give me”, giving them zero cover to pass garbage. It’s subtle, but necessary to get this crowd in line: make the hard decision, or pass quietly into the darkness.

Eh.

The “freedom caucus” are politicians interested in lobbyist money, perks, power and the same as everyone else in Washington. They do not represent freedom.

They are a bloc. They must have supported Ryan, so WTF did they expect?

They probably have more in common with the Congressional Black Caucus than differences. That is the problem with Washington. They all work against Americans and America, in my opinion.

Still I agreed with them that the Obama care repeal should have had more repeal in it than it did.

But they could have been more constructive, and think they can gain power influence and money opposing trump.

I have no problem with trump calling them out.

Nobody wants to change Washington except, it seems, Trump. If the “freedom” caucus wanted change, they’d be more constructive. They are not helpful, regardless of what they claim to repeesent.

Donald Trump is not "the boss". Congressmen serve and are answerable to the people of their districts. The President is their equal, not their superior.

We have a GOP president in the WH after 8 terrible years under Obama. Given the current demographic trends fueled by mass immigration and minority birthrates, Trump could be the last GOP President for a very long time. The Dems have won the popular vote six out of the last seven elections. Obama and Hillary had the three highest vote totals in American history.

Trump has the veto pen. If the GOP controlled Congress wants to pass legislation, they will have to work with Trump or face the prospect of Trump working with Democrats and some Reps to pass his agenda. Some people are more equal than others. We saw that with Obama who used the pen and telephone to run the country by Executive Order.

Why did the GOP-controlled Congress make a fool out of Trump handing him a terrible defeat? Trump did his part by bringing over 120 GOP Congressmen to his office and by holdings several rallies to push the bill. It was a major investment of his reputation and credibility. The ensuing defeat could have been avoided if the GOP had the ability to reach a consensus in private instead of the public food fight that led to this debacle.

“So many turning on Trump so fast & it’s only 68 days into his administration. ‘Tis’ a pity.”
*************************************************************
Ahh... not BLINDLY & with ABSOLUTE OBEDIANCE following someone when they are wrong is not “turning on Trump”.

I’m very proud of OUR President Trump. He is making almost all the right moves. His threats against & demonization of the Freedom Caucus is NOT one of these right moves. Trump is not our Mesiah; he is our President. He can make mistakes & bad decisions. He can make, AND HAS MADE, mistakes of such magnitude that they LEAD TO BANKRUPTCY.

Ryan Care is a mistake of massive proportions.

I couldn’t agree more that the entire repeal effort was bungled

I think though, with all due respect to the President (because make no mistake I’ve been largely pleased with his performance up to this point even though I have t said so) we should have the guts to lay at least part of the blame for the bungling on him!

He’s the President for goodness sakes. He should have said to Ryan, “don’t come to me until you have worked out an agreement with the FC and any other objectors. Work it out in private so the Marxist press doesn’t make hay over your infighting and then we’ll bring it to the public”

That is NOT what he did. He aligned himself early on with Ryan and the other CINO’s and basically told the FC to stuff it. Trying to play a numbers game in his “art of the deal” basically attempting to string arm the FC into submission.

And he’s still doing that now with this tweet!! It’s inexcusable and any spin or apologetic for him at this point is delusional. He needs to press the reset button on this work out a deal with the FC behind closed doors and then present it to the public.

This attack on the FC is literally biting the hand that fed him the victory in November and if he continues with this madness we will deserve Hillary (or Warren or whoever) in 2020. Because Blue Collar Democrats and their populist agenda isn’t going to save this country (if it even can be saved at this point I’m not even sure of that)

But if it can only true CONSERVATISM can and will save it. Not some populist purple coalition!

Freedom Caucus members supported Trump, generally.

It reminds me of the phrase “with friends like these, you don’t need enemies.”

Freedom Caucus needed to be straight shooters with Trump.

“Your evidence Trump has disavowed conservative Republicans is?”

It’s called the typical conservative drama queen gun in mouth virus.

In which a bunch of idiots seek out one area of disagreement and pump it up to such a idiotic level, that they are all ready to hand the government over to the Democrats to teach (insert name here) a lesson by ramming that gun hard town their own throats and stomping that trigger.

Mind you this group couldn’t stop Obama at any point in 8 years, but they are all piss and fire today.

It’s one thing I learned from the 2016 election is that the right is full of people that are as dumb as the left.
