MSNBC: Democrats ‘Desperate’ for ‘Hero’ Barack Obama to Trash President Trump
Newsbusters ^ | April 24, 2017 | 1:11 PM EDT | Kyle Drennan

During MSNBC’s 11 a.m. ET hour on Monday, minutes before Barack Obama began his first public appearance since leaving office, correspondent Ron Allen channeled left-wing hopes that the former president would emerge as the “opposition leader” to President Trump.

While Allen noted that Obama was “not going to take on President Trump directly” during the panel discussion at the University of Chicago, he claimed that it was “a very unusual situation”: “You have a very popular former president who’s just 55, very vigorous....And you have a president, President Trump, whose administration is so diametrically opposed and is dismantling so many things that President Obama spent eight years putting together...”

Allen touted liberals imploring Obama to attack Trump:

...his supporters, his advocates, those who back President Obama, they really want to hear from him. Democrats are feeling somewhat desperate, you might even say. They’re demoralized by the results of the election, they see a hero in President Obama. And the question is whether he will play that big role, that big opposition leader role that so many of his supporters want.

Here is a full transcript of the April 24 report:

11:39 AM ET

ALI VELSHI: In just a few minutes, former President Barack Obama will make his first public appearance since leaving office in the place where he launched his political career decades ago. He’s gonna speak to young leaders about community service and civic engagement at the University of Chicago. That happens at the top of the hour.

Last night, he visited a program called Chicago Cred on the city’s south side, which mentors at-risk young adults and helps them with job skills and employment opportunities. Ron Allen is live in Chicago. Ron, good to see you. Students are going to hear from President Obama, they’re also going to be able to ask him questions. President Trump, his name or some reference to him is likely to come up. What do we think President Obama’s gonna do?

RON ALLEN: That’s the million-dollar question, how will President Trump’s name come up and what will President Obama say about him? Because that’s what everybody wants to know. The Obama team is signaling that he is not going to take on President Trump directly, that that’s not what this is about. This is about former President Obama sitting down with young people, talking about civic engagement, getting involved in their community and so forth.

But obviously we’re in some unchartered waters here, it’s a very unusual situation. You have a very popular former president who’s just 55, very vigorous, planning to get out there, out on the public stage in some way. And you have a president, President Trump, whose administration is so diametrically opposed and is dismantling so many things that President Obama spent eight years putting together, like ObamaCare, like policies on immigration, the environment, so on and so forth.

So that’s the big question, what will President Obama say, what will he do? But the signal is that he’s going to not get involved in the day to day give and take of back and forth between President Trump. He doesn’t want to set himself up as a foil for President Trump. But again, his supporters, his advocates, those who back President Obama, they really want to hear from him. Democrats are feeling somewhat desperate, you might even say. They’re demoralized by the results of the election, they see a hero in President Obama. And the question is whether he will play that big role, that big opposition leader role that so many of his supporters want. Ali?

VELSHI: Ron, good to talk to you. We will look forward to hearing from President Obama at the top of the hour. Ron Allen for us in Chicago.

I had heard that the Seditious Muslim was going to try out for the Spandau Ballet - under the pseudonym "Muhammad Twinkletoes"... 😀

“Trump will not forecast his moves. Obama is clear about the power of the presidency and knows his ass is in a sling of his own making. Obama knows better than to cross Trump at this juncture.”

Perhaps, but any script his handlers put in front of him, he will read, although I suspect even his handlers have learned which words the Fraud can’t seem to master speaking.

Obama would be a fool to take up that torch.

1) Presidents keep their mouths shut, and that is the presidential way to behave. Carter was an offender but is considered a loser.

2) Obama is not going anywhere politically, so why become a Soros Brownshirt? What is in it for him? Why not remain a statesman?

3) The current president is learning where the bodies are buried, and had we had a fair media, many of Obama’s sins would have been already published, with the same verve that they are publishing Trumps imagined sins. But much is hidden. Take this book “Shattered” about the failure of the Clinton campaign; what is so intriguing about it is the clarity and an unvarnished look at Hillary and her world. Why this is fascinating is that these authors have violated the DNC-Media code of omerta, and are finally saying things that any honest reporter would have already said against a Democrat candidate. So after the fact, a new book on Clinton spins heads, because the media has taken the deliberately enplaced scales from its eyes to say what they should have been saying all last year. This as well can happen to Obama. Look at the details of the Iran deal, the creation of ISIS, and soon the big reveal on John Brennan’s utter and complete violation of the Constitution. There are a great many affronts to the nation from Obama and picking a fight with the guys controlling the flow is just not a great idea. Real media coverage kills Democrats, the alt-media has damaged them. Obama attacking Trump sends it all into hyper speed. Let sleeping tweets lie....

4) Obama’s re-emergence only crystalizes in the minds of voters the decrepit and bankrupt state of current Democrat leadership. They are a laughing stock, and screaming Russia and Racism in rapid suggestion just keeps turning people off. Obama, in speaking as a leader, only makes the world focus on Warren, Sanders, Maxine Waters, Ellison, Perez, et al and realize the third graders just took over the nuclear power plant. Obama will heighten the differences and contribute to the weakening confidence of Democrats in their party leadership.

5) What Obama could do affirmatively for Democrats is a) stop chasing whites out of the party and end the endless and useless lamentation of “white privilege”. The Dems are delusional if they feel they can bash their customers and still win office, it is just bad business and they keep doing it; b) start recruiting candidates who have done something with their lives rather than organize marches on police stations. Bring in Dem businessmen, and public/private partners, start rewarding intellectual merit and the tools to measure it, like written exams, start rewarding small businessmen, and make that the growth engine rather than employing an army of regulators who weaken the economy. c) Push back on the snowflakes and those who seek to reduce any aspect of the First Amendment. It is a sacred right but the universities, the leftist students, and the Soros subsidized monkeys are determined to eradicate it from college life, and then the nation. Obama would earn a lot of points by going after this and staking a claim on the First Amendment. He should snatch it from Ann Coulter and the basement army of Breitbart soldiers, who are now the moral guardians and defenders of the most sacred rights of all. The left is losing the debate, and are falling in behind the nonsense of Russia Russia Russia, and Racism Racism Racism. They all talk crap that is so propagandistic that no one listens to it, it is predictable as an editorial page from Pravda and just as boring, and Obama could very well be a refreshing breeze if he got real. d) Obama could push for real change in the inner cities, but that is too much a pipe dream to waste words.

Obama’s been uncharacteristically quiet since leaving office, which can only mean that he’s up to no good.

“Trump will not forecast his moves. ... Obama knows better than to cross Trump at this juncture.”

I hope Hussein spends every waking minute on the alert for the AG’s agents to show up at his house and arrest him. That’s until the AG’s agents actually DO show up at his house and arrest him. Then I hope he spends every waking minute behind bars in Big Bubba’s loving arms... or whatever.

If Donald Trump does not prosecute the Clintons and obama then he will attacked again and again as he looks weak. He needs to also go after the local politicians who are criminals like the Berkley mayor.

Any chance that obozo will be taking strolls through the neighborhood(s) with his adoring supporters? That’s an excellent way to get to know the residents of that city.

The Fa**ot Fascist is behaving as “the president in exile” rather than as an EX-(former) President.

Obama wants to be Presidente for Life (with a pen and a phone) or “The Last Imam/President”.
