None of my children have a Social Security number. We’ll pay the extra taxes just to help keep our kids out of some idiot database.

We hear so much of more than one adult claiming a child for the benefits. The only way to stop that abuse is to use Social Security numbers.

“None of my children have a Social Security number”

When were they born? How will they file taxes or get financial accounts?

I believe the Tax FILER has to have a SS number, not the Children.

Of course the obvious question being, why wasn’t this required in the first place?

If they have a birth certificate then they are already in a database. And if they have no SSN and no Birth Certificate... then you have screwed them for life.

Until they claim your children may be illegal not being in the system and they deport them.

I can appreciate your thinking on this. I have some friends who wouldn't get SS numbers for their twelve children. The older ones all applied for them because it became a huge hassle not to have a SS number. While most application processes have alternatives to using a SS number, it almost always complicates the process tremendously.

How will they apply for jobs? That is, if they ever have to work for anyone other than family.
