North Korea launches missile, nearing Japanese waters
CNBC ^ | 7/3/17 | Leslie Shaffer

On its website, South Korean state news agency Yonhap cited South Korea's military as saying an unidentified ballistic missile launched from a location near the North's border with China at 9:40 a.m. local time. South Korean President Moon Jae-in ordered a National Security Council meeting after the launch, Yonhap reported, citing the Blue House — the South's equivalent of the White House.

Well yes, that is a threat. But why would the Nork’s blow up their best democratic support groups in congress?

Japan needs to test fire directly at them.

There is no real way to know that the missile is nuclear armed until it explodes. The testing of a re-entry vehicle could be confused as a nuclear tipped missile but the boom at the end of the flight is the only way to know.

The sea is the target, by measuring the height of the missile it is possible to determine its range. Also, some of the test that are designed to test staging are self destructed after staging to not let on about it's full range.

Before all that, the big issue at hand is putting the economic/trade screws to China if necessary so maybe they’ll figure out this is a group effort. Bet the rent, Trump is thinking the same thing.

They don’t have offensive missiles, but they do have land and sea based ABM systems. If they intercepted one, they’d probably want to cooperate with us, first. There’s quite a bit of info our adversaries in Russia and China could glean from a live fire. We don’t want to give away the store to make a point.

The 2018 Winter Olympics is scheduled in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

It is basically on the Eastern side of South Korea on a parallel just a little South of Seoul (Western side of the same area).

China likes what NK does and is not yet scared enough of lil Kim's nukes to put a stop to it. When they decide Kim's nukes begin to pose a threat to China they will have lil Kim overthrown and a more "reasonable" leader installed. Until then China will stymie and stall any attempt by us to militarily take out the threat.

Want to bet 5 Freeper bucks on whether or not there will be a strike on NK within the next year?

Will that include any operation within their borders?

Hmmm... like a warning strike on some of NK’s nuclear production or missile launching facilities? I don’t expect it but I could see that happening. How about we make the bet on an attempt to completely eliminate NK’s missile and nuclear capabilities within the next year and not just a token strike?

I won’t go that far in a year. Above my paygrade.

I will say that the US is going to curtail their operations and they know it. How that happens is not my call.

We will both give an extra 5 to FR regardless.

:^)

Sounds like we are pretty close in outlook. Both of us think an all out attempt to remove Kim's nuclear capability is unlikely. You think a message will be sent militarily, I think that's possible but unlikely. Good talking to you. Have a great 4th!

“...China adds a complicating factor to the mix.”

Something North Korean and MAJOR is, suddenly, “erased.”

The White House drops a note to Beijing: “Doing a little bit of remodeling up the road from you. Pardon our dust.”

I think the Chinese will take him out; no one will handle Kim unless it is done by them and them alone. The Chinese view North Korea as part of their tributary states and thus they (the Chinese) are honor bound to protect North Korea in exchange for deference to China’s express wishes on anything.

We have satellites with radiation detection equipment. There is no way a nuclear device can be concealed with any amount of shielding on a boat. A submarine is a different matter. I think we can track the subs from space.

It can be shielded with simple lead, among other things. And a nuke in a bulk freighter is going to be difficult at best to detect from orbit when properly shielded.

>>There is always a way. It has to be found. North Korea has to be resolved.<<

I'm just beside myself that intelligence agencies haven't sent teams to assassinate this guy like he sends to take out those he perceives as a threat.

The NK people are so brainwarshed, living in terror of the consequences of independent thought...but people are people and folks over there are tawkin quietly in their homes. Pretty sure a large percentage of NK citizens would be happy as hades to get rid of this chubby tyrant.

"Their whole gambit is how far can I push before they push back. How far can they push?"

Ask the 10 million people in and around Seoul for the next 12 hours after it hits how far they can push back.

How is this not an act of war against the Japanese? Japan needs a reason to live its time to let them militarize or maybe we have I have no idea.

To long a great people have been neutered distracted by bizarre games shows, robotic toys and other frivolous pursuits like making very nice cars.

Perhaps it is time for Japan to stop playing games get real and go kick North Korea's Ass then go home and make some babies.

Or we just laser Kimmy in the head the next time he goes outside without his foil on. Hell he might not even have to go outside these days.
