Katrina wasn't Bush's fault anymore than Charlottesville was Trump's fault. But it didn't prevent Bush getting pasted with it, and he never recovered.

He was basically a coward on many policy issues. If you needed some proof about that, you got it today in his released statement on Charlottesville.

Bush didn’t recover because it was obvious by 2006 that he was an incompetent tool of big-government globalists who couldn’t provide any rational explanation why the U.S. was pissing away thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars on a military campaign in Iraq while at the same time promoting a Mexican invasion right here at home.
