Federal district court blocks Texas' sanctuary cities law

A federal district judge in San Antonio blocked significant portions of Texas' sanctuary cities ban Wednesday, two days before the law was set to go into effect — a significant blow to Gov. Greg Abbott, who said the state would appeal.

In a 94-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia blocked provisions in the law that required local law enforcement departments to comply with federal requests to hold unauthorized immigrants in their custody. He also blocked a part of the law that said local departments couldn't implement policies that would "materially limit" the enforcement of immigration laws.

Judge Garcia was born in Jim Wells County, Texas.

That was where the notorious "ballot box 13" was packed with over 100 names from the grave yard (in alphabetic order in the same handwriting) to allow Lyndon Johnson to steal the senate election from Coke Stevenson in 1948.

On February 26, 2014 in San Antonio, Garcia overturned the Texas ban on same-sex marriage, ruling that the prohibition is unconstitutional and stigmatizes the relationship of gay couples in the conservative state. He stayed his ruling pending appeal.

Lets get on with the appeal.

That time is now.

Texas, tell this judge to enforce his ruling.. He won’t get any support from the white house.

Garcia is a Mexican Supremacist.

He’s disloyal to the United States and is using his power in the interests of Mexico.

He should not only be impeached, he should be tried for treason against our nation.

It used to be that local governments are created by state gov’t and all powers are derived from the state government; there are no inherent rights for local governments independent of what the state grants to them

It seems to me the leftists want their totalitarian communism one way or the other and they will stop at nothing to achieve that goal.

I'm all for taking executive action against these seditionist judges. Whatever it takes to rid this nation of this scourge of anti Constitutional liberal judges needs to happen.

If we don't have justice for all then we have justice for none. Liberal judges should simply not be allowed to make decisions based on their liberal politics. That's the way it's done in 3rd world cesspool govts.

I am increasingly convinced that yes, in fact judges with Mexican surnames ARE judging through the prism of ethnic and tribal interpretations of the laws they took an oath to "protect and defend."

Trump was spot on when he made the same observation about the dreaded identity politics.

My reaction : How does one "fight that?" I suppose a good start is reading this judge's 94(?)-page decision.

I wonder why we bother to vote anymore.

One un-elected judge has more power than a state legislature and governor and even a president.

One would have to be as naive as a two year old to think otherwise.

A state tells its employees how to do their job and this so-called judge tells them the state is not in charge, he is.
