Leftism’s bizarre system of faith consists of every heresy going back to Mesopotamia as well as elements taken from the Bible. In this light catastrophic global change (warming) can be understood on two levels. On one level global change is an angry Gaia (Isis, Ashteroth, etc) threatening to destroy humanity unless massive, global wide human sacrifice is made to ‘her.’ Westerners, especially ‘evil straight white racists’ and all who hold to America’s traditional life style (private property, free trade, pro-life etc) will be the first to be sacrificed. On another level, catastrophic global change/warming comes right out of the Book of Revelation. The earth said the Lord, will not be destroyed by water but by fire.

“A life of affluence, a life of leisure, a life of little pestilence, little war. And for that my generation has pretty well screwed the planet for our kids.”

Spoken by someone who has grown up indoctrinated his whole life in the Left inspired main stream media information bubble, and never escaped that intellectual plantation to go and think for himself.

“I don’t see humanity outliving the century,”

Though I’ve not worded it that way, I’ve made no secret of agreeing with that sentiment for the last decade or so.

We are on the cusp of discovering the key to immortality. We are on the cusp of a world in which ALL occupations - every single one - can be replaced by robots/computers/machines.

This is not just another phase of the industrial/computer/etcetera revolution. This is different.

It’s why it is clear to me that that Lord’s return is soon.

Sounds like a colossal waste of time. The pope will probably enjoy it though.

"Very easily within the range of possibility. I would have to be multiple such organisms/viruses etc, for a variety of reasons, but it is definitely a concern."

First off, a "major die-off" might involve "only" 50% of Earth's population, or around 4 billion people at the moment. A lot of folks would consider even a mere 100 million a big deal... ;-)

However, it might still only take a single strain to kill 99%+ of humans (truthfully I think the main "problem" would be infecting so many, since some live in quite isolated groups). This research done in Australia with mice and mouse pox was quite disturbing:

https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn311-killer-mousepox-virus-raises-bioterror-fears/

A virus that kills every one of its victims, by wiping out part of their immune system, has been accidentally created by an Australian research team. The virus, a modified mousepox, does not affect humans, but it is closely related to smallpox, raising fears that the technology could be used in biowarfare.
"Kills every one of its victims" = 100% mortality.

So, the recipe to effectively wipe out humanity is something along the lines of the above, somehow designed to trigger 90 days or so after the organism is infectious. Three months would be long enough for transmission to pretty much all non-hermits. After that, virtually all infected people die in short order...

Generally, the more lethal an agent the less likely it will spread widely, as the hosts die before they can infect others. The concept of a delayed effect would mitigate against this to some extent, as you point out, but it would be very difficult to design an agent that could multiply sufficiently within a host such that it would be spread far and wide, but wouldn't have its lethal effect until significantly later. Much easier to design multiple agents that would have a cumulative devastating effect. This is a very scary consideration. Technology is such that genomic manipulation is very easy these days, and humanity has proven time and again that human beings are capable of horrible acts.

Great, another no-doubt-influential (/sarc) film by an entertainment industry leftist nitwit, purporting to be directed at Christians around the world.
