Quietly donate money in the name of the dead soldier to a vets fund. Don’t use the captive audience of a plane to show off your singing and signal your virtue.
Delta is a poor successor to Northwest Orient.
Singing the national anthem as the casket of a soldier is brought on board? Really? That just seems odd.
A dignified silence seems more appropriate.
The real problem here is that we are letting people come to our nation that would be offended.
Why on Earth do that?
If someone objects to hearing our national anthem at such a time as this, send them back on the next flight. We don’t want them.
We have a right to love our nation, and mourn our fallen service members any way we like.
I started out thinking perhaps these folks should put a lid on it. Then the more I thought about it, the more claer it became that this would be one more thing WE HAVE TO GIVE UP, because someone else might be offended.
Screw anyone who would be offended. As I said, get them out of our nation ASAP.
If it’s another citizen, ask them where they’d like to be dropped off.
Yes, I’m that sick of this nonsense.
Maybe her singing sucked.
Let’s go easy on Delta. They surely know that, if they let him sing the Anthem, some judge would force them to allow Sanders supporters to sing an ode to socialism as loudly and obnoxiously as possible.
This moment was more personal for the family than singing the National Anthem. Don’t they use church music if there is music when moving the body?
I don’t expect anything good from Delta.

The main piece of news that I got from this article is that we have troops in Niger.
I don’t want to stand up in a crowded airplane and sing a song. A fallen soldier deserves dignified quiet, not a celebration of bombs bursting in air.
Just as the NFL thugs don’t understand the anthem, neither do the “sing it for the fallen” people. The song is a celebration of America—all of it. This is the soldiers, sailors, Marines, as well as the construction workers, engineers, pizza makers, and stay at home moms. It celebrates a nation of no specific ethnicity or ancestry, a nation where every person is nobility and is also a person who serves in their own way.
If you want to honor the troops, demand that the wars be won in the most brutal way possible, utterly destroying the enemy, and then let the troops come home.
A flight attendant told her that singing “The Star Spangled Banner” would make passengers from other countries uncomfortable, she said.
Die, corporate scum.
