Blockbuster Assessment: Humans Likely Responsible For Virtually All Global Warming Since 1950s

Humans are likely responsible for 93 - 123% of Earth’s net global warming after 1950, says a blockbuster climate report issued on Friday. The Climate Science Special Report is the first product released by the Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA); the core assessment itself, focusing on impacts, will be released in 2018. The NCA is an congressionally mandated quadrennial effort by hundreds of U.S. scientists to assess how the climate is changing in the United States. The project is carried out by the U.S. Global Change Research Program. Preparation of the report included workshops around the nation, a public-comment period on the draft, and a technical review spanning 13 agencies.

Ignoring the obvious energy received from the sun.

I spend summers in southern Oregon, growing tomatoes and grapes, and such. We have a 9500 foot peak, Mt. McLaughlin in our neighborhood. In 2015 and 2016 the snow on the peak disappeared in June. In 2015 the snow re-appeared in mid-November and in 2016 it was early November. In 2017 the snow cover persisted until mid-July and re-appeared in mid-October.

I understand that this is WEATHER and not CLIMATE, but inflection points can be both. For a few years, grape growers ripened Mourvedre (a late varietal). This year, not so much.

There are other factors (warm Humboldt current, etc). But regardless, trends go in one direction until they don’t. The Earth’s climate is part of a non-linear, coupled, chaotic system which cannot be modeled using our current level of mathematical and computing sophistication. The magnitude of their predictions is essentially hollow.

I also agree that we can’t do a lot about preventing warming (or cooling). What we can do is continue trying to understand the system, hopefully with a little less shrill alarmism.

Since we haven’t been warming for the last decade plus this report screams data manipulation

It is Fake Science

an INCREASE of more than 100% simply means it more than doubled.

Yes, I understand that, but they aren't saying "Humans caused global warming to increase 123%" (from what I can tell), they are saying that humans are responsible for 123% of the global warming.

Oh, come on, you green energy neanderthal, we need to make more migratory bird wind powered cuisinarts to compliment our solar roof panels or we're all going to DIE.

How do I know this is fake science? Because if it were true, liberals would be silent about it. They want billions of people to be killed to control ‘overpopulation.’ They'd be thrilled about the possibility of massive typhoons raking the most populated parts of the world, drowning all those people.

Unsubstantiated and unprovable supposition.

They make these statements as if they are facts and ignorant sheep that is the common Democrat blindly follow along.

The High Priest of Global Warming have spoken the word of Gia.

Go forth and spread the news of our demise. The seas shall rise and yea all shall perish for your sins of a Carbon Foot Print.

it is 123% certain that our 0.00136% CO2 is causing massive global warming-

this is akin to saying that placing an average sized lit candle in an indoor football stadium is causing massive climate change-

Or, it’;s like claiming that dumping 4 5 gallon pails of 100 degree water into an olympic sized pool of 90 degree water will cause catastrophic pool warming (4 five gallon pails = roughly 0.00135% of the contents of the pool)

Because the math doesn’t support the wild claims- they have to pad their results to make it seem more dangerous- hence the 123% figure- sounds scary and finite huh?

It's easy, humans are responsible for 123% of warming, but not responsible for 123% of cooling. Net increase is zero. But humans are still bad.

Exactly! 123% of something is such an uneducated backward statement. And here I thought Weather Underground was supposed to be soooooo intellectual and scientific. Another one bites the dust.

Seems to me they would have to have some evidence that the earth would be otherwise cooling down if it were not for mankind causing the warming to claim such a thing.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Why ‘pick on the 1950s’ and call that the ‘starting point’

One would think they would have said that OUR use of the Atom Bomb(s) in 1945 blew a hole in the outer crust allowing hot air etc in.

Of course having lived through the ‘atomic detonation age’
and the perceived ‘Ice Age’ of the 70s which turned into ‘Global Warming’ but when ‘they sent ships to the Antarctic to observe the melting of the icebergs and said ships got trapped in the ICE FLOE they settle on

Climate change.

ANYTHING to keep the bucks rolling in and the sheep fleeced..

Like the ‘old story’ of the guy being told by his Dr that his cholesterol level was too high and he had to cut back on his eggs and bacon etc, had to stop smoking and cease using alcohol..

“BUT my grandfather ate 12 eggs and a half a pound of bacon for breakfast every morning, smoked like a chimney and drank enough moonshine to float a Battleship AND he lived to be 103”

Dr”Yes but that was before we knew about cholesterol, lung cancer and sclerosis of the liver”

From the article -

“The likely range of the human contribution to the global mean temperature increase over the period 1951–2010 is 1.1° to 1.4°F (0.6° to 0.8°C), and the central estimate of the observed warming of 1.2°F (0.65°C) lies within this range (high confidence). This translates to a likely human contribution of 93%–123% of the observed 1951–2010 change.”

So let me get this straight. 1.4 divided by 49 = 0.028

Boy howdy, that .028 degree rise per year has really messed up this planet. Can you say margin of error ?

Not just fake news but fake facts, fake assumptions and fake conclusions designed to get you to want to fork over billions to trillions of dollars to save the Earth. From what ?

Humans are likely responsible for 93 - 123% of Earth’s net global warming after 1950, says a blockbuster climate report issued on Friday.

The Sun is responsible for 100% of climate change, not humans and cows.

The report has serious flaws in its assumptions, data, and methodology.

With a few tweaks here and there the findings can be reversed, showing that we are on the cusp of global cooling.

Well, any answer up to 50% is plausible. Anything over that is already disproven for the past decade.

Yes, and how many times has the earth gone through warming and cooling over that past 2 billion years??? Let me count the ways....
