Al Franken Should Go (New York Times)
NY Times ^ | 11/16/07 | Michelle Goldberg

Posted on 11/17/2017 9:40:13 AM PST by drewh

Republicans, never particularly eager to hold their own to account, will use Franken to deflect from more egregious abuse on their own side, like what Trump and Roy Moore are accused of. Women with stories about other members of Congress might hesitate to come forward.

That horrifying photo of Franken will confront feminists every time they decry Trump’s boasts of grabbing women by the genitals. Democrats will have to worry about whether more damaging information will come out, and given the way scandals like this tend to unfold, it probably will.

The feminist thinks: Who cares? Replace them all with women! But this frenzied moment will not end with the collapse of patriarchy. There will be overreach and then a fierce and ugly backlash, as men — but not only men — decide we can’t just go around ruining people’s lives and careers by retroactively imposing today’s sexual standards on past actions.

Besides, as more and more men get swept up in this moment of reckoning, we’re going to have to figure out some mechanism by which those accused of offenses that fall short of assault can make amends and get their lives back.

The question isn’t about what’s fair to Franken, but what’s fair to the rest of us.

He should go, and the governor should appoint a woman to fill his seat.

The message to men in power about sexual degradation has to be clear: We will replace you.

It seems that the intersection of liberal, Jewish, male, and with connections to NY or Hollywood put the odds of one being a pervert or sexual abuser somewhere in the upper 90’s percentage-wise.

If this is what powerful men do, they shouldn’t be powerful.

That is a very strong contender for FR Post of the Year.

The Dems are realizing - they can sacrifice Franken to protect their golden political milk-cow of so-called women’s rights, social justice, and female aggrievement.

Franken goes and Dayton, who is a moon bat leftist, will appoint someone equally leftist. When it comes time for the next election, they can have women or some other “under-represented minority” take the seat.

No loss at all

This is a very dishonest article.

From the article:

“Republicans, never particularly eager to hold their own to account, will use Franken to deflect from more egregious abuse on their own side, like what Trump and Roy Moore are accused of. Women with stories about other members of Congress might hesitate to come forward. That horrifying photo of Franken will confront feminists every time they decry Trump’s boasts of grabbing women by the genitals.”

She blames Republicans and says they won't hold people accountable. Every establishment Republican including McConnell, McCain and Romney has called for Moore to step aside even if the accusations against him are totally false.

She refuses to distinguish between false accusations and true ones.

She believes every false accusation against Republicans should be believed without question and no one should have the chance to defend himself.

It is only the picture that concerns her. Other than that she would gladly lie to protect Franken and attack the victim.

“Not really. They want Trump and Roy Moore gone.”

It took 19 posts for a winner. Franken didn’t do stank. He’s a sacrificial pawn to ratchet up the demands for Trump to step down.

Well, who else has he got?

Do you seriously think that the democrat Governor in a socialist blue state is going to consider appointing one of the most vocal Christian Conservative Republicans in the country to a vacant Senate seat???

No, they don’t.

They want Roy Moore gone.

Franken won’t go anywhere, because he is already in office, and is a socialist-democrat troll.

Socialist-democrats and flaming RINOs get a free pass from the MSM.

Red state conservatives get roasted over a spit after being convicted in the court of public opinion, and do not enjoy due process or the concept of innocent until proven guilty.

Sometimes, conservatives can be duped into being their own worst enemy.

Franken won’t go. In the case of the unstoppable force (a sudden puritanical concern about sexual misdeeds from the left) vs immovable object (leftists clinging to power at all costs, throwing their own under the bus only as a last resort), the immovable object almost always wins.

Also, if Franken is replaced the replacement now has to defend the seat in a year instead of finishing out Frankenstein’s term.

The Times want Franken gone because he’s a Hillary backer... as was Weinstein. It’s a purge of people who might prop up the witch and her husband.

The New York Times didn’t give a crap about Bill Clinton having a ‘credible’ rape charge against him. Or the ‘sluts and nuts’ thugs Clinton used to bully women... They didn’t give a damn about ‘Teddy’ killing a woman... or John Kennedy sleeping with every whore Hollywood offered up... but they ‘care’ about this?

Yeah, right.

It’s political. There is nothing - absolutely nothing - moral about the New York Times. The get their orders from the DNC... and they ‘follow’ those orders.

The question isn’t about what’s fair to Franken, but what’s fair to the rest of us.

To the progressive, we are all part of cleverly organized groups, classes, races, income levels, urban, suburban, rural, north, south, etc.. We are not individuals with certain unalienable rights.

I agree with your thinking. If the lefties insist on removing Franken THEN they will start to insist on the removal of President Trump as well.

Franklin is disposable.

There is no losing for the Dims on this. They will get an even stronger prog in MN. They will get a lib in Alabama. Franken along with Bill will be proof that they have cleaned up their house and the whole thing is behind them. Then it will be both barrels on Trump and any conservative.

Notice how the author wants a women replacement and she then wants a mechanism whereby men can repent and be rehabilitated for past actions that violate today’s standards.

Democrats ALWAYS circle the wagons, Republicans ALWAYS produce a circular firing squad.

You are so right.

I’m telling you I think Steve Bannon has incriminating evidence on LOTS of Democrats. And he is going to drip-drip-drip them to keep them resigning and keep the party in turmoil.
