I know that what happened is terrible, and the family is understandably extremely distraught, and the policeman will probably be a wreck for the rest of his life, however.
I was raised in Texas in the 60’s and 70’s. I remember driving courses and weapons ranges. I remember the policeman visiting the school. And I remember my dad and mom both giving me the talk.
If a cop approaches the vehicle, both hands on steering wheel, do not move till he tells you to move.
If you drink and play with guns, you will probably have a short and painful life. BB guns are guns, not toys, treat them with respect.
Stupid games deserve stupid prizes.
Policemen have guns, do not argue with them. Better to argue with the judge and a lawyer.
No, Daniel Shaver did not deserve to die, but the girl walking down a dark alley at two in the morning as the bars were emptying did not deserve to be raped either.
But stupid games earn stupid prizes.

Exactly! Several foolish things were done before and during that encounter. It was foolish for the dead guy to get drunk. When one takes steps to rearrange his brain cells he must be aware that bad things can result. It was foolish for him to be waving a gun...even a toy gun...around,particularly while drunk.
It was foolish for the cops to handle the situation the way they did in the moments leading up to the gunfire.
And it was foolish for the dead guy to reach down as he did in violation of several clear and detailed warnings.
If the guy hadn't been drunk this may well have never happened.
If the guy hadn't been waving a toy gun around this very probably would never have happened.
If the cops had handled the situation differently it probably wouldn't have happened.
And if the dead guy hadn't disobeyed several clear warnings it very probably would never have happened.

He wasnt a scared cop, he was a showboat cop with an audience behind him and he screamed commands to the victim like he was training a dog.

the policeman will probably be a wreck for the rest of his life, however. The victim of this unconvicted murderer's bloodlust is dead. How do you suppose HE will feel for the rest of his life? Oh, wait. That's right: HE'S DEAD!!!

The officer will be a wreck? Are you joking? Have you seen and HEARD the entire video? The cop threatened to shoot him if he made a wrong move over and over again, gleefully, sadistically, then made the drunk father of two play "Simon Says" until he could find a moment to unload a half dozen rounds of 5.56 into him.
Did you miss the "YOU'RE F-CKED" Brailsford paid to have engraved on his AR-15?

If a cop approaches the vehicle, both hands on steering wheel, do not move till he tells you to move. By the time Officer Friendly gets to your car, all interior lights on, keys on the dash, license, registration and insurance cards clearly visible, hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel, window down, puzzled look on your face...
Move slowly only when told. No sudden moves!

You haven't been paying attention, have you?
A wreck for the rest of his life? No, Brailsford is strutting and arrogant. He was exonerated for murdering a man who was trying to conform to Brailsford's conflicting orders. You can hear those orders on the video tape, not seen by the jury until after the verdict. This tattooed thug-police officer believes he did the people of Mesa, Arizona a good thing for killing an unarmed man trying to crawl while his boxer shorts were slipping down, and he couldn't move forward. Brailsford ordered Mr. Shaver to crawl with his ankles crossed. He ordered a man to do something impossible. And I think he did it so he could shoot Mr. Shaver.
Brailsford's job performance was rated as substandard by superiors evaluating him. He was a cop on the job who had NO reason to be there. Furthermore, investigating officers have said they saw no reason that Brailsford and the other officers could not have simply handcuffed him.
I think it's so very vile to say of a situation in which a cop who executed a man who was trying to comply with the cops orders, "I know what happened is terrible."
I think it's also vile for someone to preach that policemen have guns, so don't argument with them, but argue with a judge and lawyer.
But there is not ONE iota of argument on the tape by Mr. Shaver with Brailsford. Mr. Brailsford didn't get the opportunity to get to see a judge, did he?
I support police officers, and I am pro law-enforcement. But this guy Brailsford deserved to be strapped to a table and lethally injected.

you're like the guy driving down the road and sees another vehicle heading straight at him....
well he's not supposed to be in my lane...
so he stays there in his proper lane and gets killed by the oncoming vehicle...
people do silly things, and stupid things..
but you can avoid it....
cops shouldn't be in the business of killing people because of that...
are they or are they not TRAINED to protect the citizenry....
you are very wrong on this and I pity our country...
as for that arse who pretended to be Robocop, I hope he suffers a long time for murdering this poor slob...
I would bet he'll be dead himself or will shoot somebody else before its all over....
