Since it was the inaugural run on that track, it’s possible the driver wasn’t aware of the coming curve. And since when does a train have to rely on speed signs anyway? One would think the train would have autopilot that would automatically slow down the train on that section of the track.......
I count 13 cars.
If the train WAS going 80 at that point; slamming the air brakes on would create a lot of sparks, but I doubt that the most of the train would have stayed on the tracks!
I’m going to guess that later investigations will reveal something more than speed was involved.
