They are so desparate to make it sound historic that they can’t be bothered to do basic research. 8 hours isn’t even in the top 5.

the record is 24 hours, 18 minutes when a Democrat senator protested the civil rights act.

It's historic because there's no filibuster in the House of Representatives. That's why nobody really knows if anyone engaged in these bizarre antics in the past.

The record you cite is from the U.S. Senate, not the House of Representatives.
