They should all get participation medals.

Traditionally, the US hasn’t been a powerhouse in the Winter Olympics.

We can give them all big shiny plastic participation medals when they come home.

Our athletes look flat.

It got to political, and now the winter Olympics are to white so they must fail .

I am so over the Olympics.

Sure, it maybe meant something back in the day when it was true amateur competition. But that was decades ago. Drugged up athletes and maudlin TV coverage just make it all the more off-putting.

And by the summer games in 2020, we’ll probably be dealing with transgender “women” beating out their “CIS” competition. Oh, and the EU is gonna push in to having a unified team, too.

Nope. I’ve had enough.

At least Tonya Harding was an exciting bad girl and wasn’t some sanctimonious perv. She put the ‘fun’ in dysfunctional with her ‘hate on a skate’ richly deserved label. Good for ratings too.

Yep. Was fun watching the amateurs compete.

I gave up on the Olympics when they decided that NBA players were somehow amateurs. And I always thought that making a big deal out of which countries won how many medals was imbecilic.

Yes! Dogs are cuter anyway, and there was zero social or political commentary.

Also when the refs gave the Gold Medal to the Soviets in 72.

Figure skating’s popularity is at an all-time low in the US. It used to boost the ratings a lot.

Apparently they are smarter than some of our Olympians too.

But winning isn’t important, it’s the diversity that counts. Or so the media tells us.

Just an fyi. As i remember it we were always winning with our college players but the Soviets always trying to cheat, were beginning to win. It was determined that the players they were sending were comparable to our professionals and that is why the NBA players were sent.

Since the advent of the Jet Airliners -Olympics both winter and summer are noting but over hyped TV events

These athletes compete against each other every year and sometimes weeks before and after the games

And many of the athletes who compete for other countries, actually live and train in the US.

CURLING rules!

Some interesting videos on YouTube on the physics behind curling stones and why they curl the direction they do. As with many things, when you look into it, there is a lot going on, right down to special “pebbled” ice surface used for curling.
