Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has resigned from the board for the Country Music Association Foundation, one day after he was appointed the position.
Within 24 hours, Huckabee's appointment faced harsh criticism with a prominent artist manager sending a letter to the foundation calling Huckabee's election 'grossly offensive' due to his political opinions and associations with the National Rifle Association.
'Huckabee speaks of the sort of things that would suggest my family is morally beneath his and uses language that has a profoundly negative impact upon young people all across this country,' Owen wrote.
Owen and his husband have one child and are expecting more, but Owen said that Huckabee has made it clear that his family is not welcome.
'Not to mention how harmful and damaging his deep involvement with the NRA is. What a shameful choice.'

You didn’t build that...
Tom Petty said it well before he died of an overdose- which is saying something. Country music is NOT e that horrible formula crap which Hannity continues to promote— FL/GA line mashup crap.
Petty called that kind of crap-—”Bad rock n’ roll with a d fiddle” And FL/GA responded “you think we care what you think”. Just goes to show how far the fruits have dug into management and promotion, combined with hatred of “toxic masculinity”. Oh and don’t forget “gay cowboy” crap— Brokeback Mountain.
Mr. Huckabee, there are some clubs/organizations best left to others. You’ve shown true colors with your resignation and we applaud you for that. BTW, your daughter Sarah is doing a bang up job for our President. He is so fortunate to have her as a spokesperson. She must get her wits from you, sir. :-)
A brave soul could probably come up with a hilarious “gay” country song.
Not worth the aggravation, I guess. Is it a paid gig?
“Talent”, either in Nashville or Hollywood, doesn’t say or do anything without their agents/lawyers/managers okay.
All this political posturing that’s going on is driven by the suits behind the scenes.
Thats the cute little language the MSM has started using to trick the truly ignorant into thinking they are a biologically normal couple. Once science figures out how to fertilize turds, maybe they will truly be expecting. I imagine itll look like the little monster baby from Eraserhead.
Country music has changed over the decades just as rock has changed. The older country music is preferred, personally. Bill Wills, Buck Owens (not to be confused with (Gay Owens), Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. The old songs will still get you when heard.. Billy Ray Cyrus and his Acky Breaky Heart lead country down an uncharted path. This from one who never cared for country until older and (perhaps)wiser.
Bad rock n roll with a fiddle
You know what’s grossly offensive and vomit inducing? Homosexual “sex”.
When you find the answer, please enlighten the rest of us.
AIDs.
I wonder who they bought that poor baby from.
I don’t know how Jason Owens came to be in charge of country music. But there it is, he can veto someone off of the CMA board of Directors. In doing so, Jason Owens also delivered a swipe at my religion, referring to it as a “sick voice”.
I am one who has spent thousands of dollars over the years, on purchasing country music and purchasing concert tickets. Well, no more.
Cave? As I read the article, one day after Huck was appointed to the board, one fudgepacker complained that Huck isn’t fond enough of fags and too fond of the NRA, and the board rescinded Huck’s appointment. Am I wrong about that?
Many of the original country stars got their start singing gospel music.
Despite all the drinkin’ cheatin’ and law breakin’ they still managed to mention God once and a while.
Very sad. Babies as accessories.
I don't know. It says he resigned:
...Mike Huckabee has resigned from the board for the Country Music Association Foundation...
What passes for country music nowadays would have ol' Hank spinning in his grave...
