That means that 16 year-old illegals are now going to be able to vote.
Is there no shame?

Yet another reason why DC is not supposed to be given the same rights as a state.

Heh. This is one reason the electoral college is so important. They could rig their elections to the point where every vote is for democrats. It wouldn’t matter to the rest of us.
If I lived there, I’d leave.
And they may make a nice canary in the coal mine.

Can 16-year-old’s buy guns in DC? Regulations to vote should be the same as for buying guns.

In this day and age of liberal thinking there is no need to change the voting age, the children can now just self-identify as a 23 year old and legally vote. We have truly become a banana republic, Pres. Trump is our last hope before all is lost.

You mean like background checks and no history of felonies or domestic violence?

I think that lowering the voting age in DC to 16 is a Capitol idea! They should go ahead with the change on a trial basis. They should reduce the voting age only for the election of the DC representative to the Senate. 😜

Local elections? Okay, that’s up to them. Federal elections? Not without a Constitutional Amendment, they’re not.

I stand corrected. The 26th Amendment prohibits discrimination in voting rights against anyone 18 or older, but does not prohibit voting by those younger than 18. In this
discussion of the 26th amendment, it was stated that although the 14th Amendment prohibited states from discriminating against males 21 and older, it didn't prohibit states from lowering the voting age below 21.
